Guest guest
SAI RAM Devotees of Swami in about 10 in number experienced a unique way of celebrating Swami's Birthday on 23 Nov, 2007. Just a week before, we were called by a devotee Mr. Murali Krishna from Dilshad Garden, Ghaziabad (UP) to call for a group of devotees who would willingly come forward to feed and spend some time( Narayana Seva) with the orphans (about 50 children) in the orphange- RAMA RAJA SEVA ANANTHA ASHRAM at Ghaziabad. The small group started preparing for this Blessed event, that too, on Baba's Birthday. As decided, we left with self-prepared food items alongwith a CD on Baba, etc. on arriving at the ashram, it was a delighted sight. The children were in their classrooms and all came down quickily and spread the blankets. Immediately, Swami's photo alongiwth Shirdi Baba photo were placed, lamp was lit and flowers were put on the Swamis, agarbattis were burnt and bhajans began at 12.45 p.m. To our surprise, the ashram knew a lot about Baba and they sang bhajans too. This was followed by serving the simple but delicious home made preparations to these children who glowed with joy for the good food that they ate. This was followed, in turn, now the children serving the food to us including their Shastri, the owner of the Ashram. It was a delight for us to eat as the children served us with love and care. Shastriji is around 55 years, hails from Sultanpur and had left his family behind and himself being highly educated, started this Seva to the orphans. Indeed, a great service when we are always engrossed with our own family ties! After this, now it was our turn to sing and teach them Bhajans alongwith Omkaram, Sai Gayathri, Sai Ashtothram . Again, they sang about the Glory of our Swami and after Arati, Vibhuti and Sweet as Prasadams, Swami's photo and one banana was distributed to all the children and caretakers of the Ashram. Then, the children were shown a CD on Swami service to the mankind, which the children saw with emotional touch and enthusiasm. It was almost 3 p.m. when our time came to depart away from the children. On our way, all of us talked about these children and their lovely innocent faces and experiences with them will be always remembered by us. What better service could have been on Bhagwan's Birthday, is the question we asked to each other! The whole experience motivated us so much, we have decided that every month, we will be visiting the children and do whatever we can to improve their living conditions, provide good food, teach good habits and ofcourse, looking forward in making them a good human being. That's what our Swami wants too.
