Guest guest
Sai-Satsang in 4 centers continued (week ending 8th June, Friday) Sairam to all Children, Sisters and Sai Brothers in all 4 Sai SatSanghs in Dammam, Jubail, Jeddah and Riyadh. We continue with the Eighteenth (18) posting of the activities of all 4 centers. Summary: 1) Total Attendance all over Saudi over 110. 2) Two Sai Riyadh familes move out of KSA to neighboring Arab countries 3) SAI Book Center in London Details: In Dammam the weekly satsang was held on the evening 7.30 pm of Wednesday 6th June at Bro. Mani's (and sister Jaya) residence which was the first time being held in their home. This coincided with the birthday of their 5 year old daughter Vaishali which is on 7th June. The attendance was by about 35 members and Bro. Mani took the Aarthi. Our Best wishes to Vaishali Jaya Mani and " Happy Birthday " . The Bhajan was followed by cake cutting and Bhojan. Study Circle was conducted with about 15 participants, with a new chapter " Dharma " . Questions and discussions on the previous chapter " Discipline " are to be held later. We are informed that Sister Mythili Ganesan also will be the (second) Bhajan coorodinator on return from the vacation. With 2 Bhajan coordinators, Dammam circle are expected to have good Bahajan sessions in future. We are looking forward to it. Jubail center held the weekly Satsang on Thursday 7th June at 7.30 pm attended by about 16 members at Bro Sunil’s residence. Aarthi was taken by Bro Kaladheepan, one of the 4 members from Dammam who attended. It was followed by Dinner hosted by Bro Sunil & family. As a part of seva activity, Brother Sunil Gallapathi in Jubail carried out a Narayana Seva by distributing 500 lunch packets on 1st June 2007, Friday to the labour camp employees in Jubail. It may be mentioned that he does this at his own initiative-Sai Bless him. The program was joined by several Jubail SAI member volunteers. Bro Jaggu from Dammam also participated with sweets for the food packets. Jeddah report did not reach me at the time of this posting. Riyadh group held the weekly Bhajan on Thursday 7th June evening from 6.00 am till about 8 pm. It was attended by about 60 members as it was the Mahila and Balvikas Bhajans. The aarthi was taken by Ms. Shivaji. As there were a number of Birthdays after the Bhajan a joint Happy Birthday was sung for Lavina Suresh, Venugopals (Riyadh bank & SABIC), Mythili and Kaushik. “Wishing you all many more Happy Years”. After the Bhajan a dinner was hosted to give farewell to Aparna, Kamakshi & Shankar who are leaving for Jordon and for family of Bro Shivaji (wife, 2 sons) who is leaving for Qatar. We wish their careers a big success. Usually members move to India, USA or Dubai but moving to our neighbors is a new good trend. The above reports were provided by Bros. Vinod from Dammam, Vimal from Jubail and Batha Suresh from Riyadh. This week-end I was not in Saudi myself. This week while in London, I visited the " Sri Sathya Sai Books UK Ltd " (Book shop) located at 19, Hay Lane, Kingsbury, London NW9 0NH Tel: 020 8732 2886 www.srisathyasaibookcentre.org.uk The premises are owned by the trust and well stocked. I recommend it to our brothers and sisters while visiting London to take some time to pay a visit there too. It is conveniently located in North west of London in the Indians-friendly belt consisting of Alperton-Wembley-Kingsbury etc where you can find a number of " Genuine " Indian vegetarian restuarants at reasonable prices. (Most Indian resturants in UK are run by Bangladeshis except in these places) I bought a couple of books and 3 CDs including 2 on Vedam chanting. Although these materials are more expensive than bought in India, we should support such overseas centers. The book shop is manned by volunteers and the Brother and sister I met there gave me good descriptions of various books and CD materials. I also picked up a monthly update of activities newsletter which mentioned about visit of Vedam Narayanan from Puttaparthy to UK in an interesting way. From the newsletter, I make out that sister Rosemary Perry is the National Chair, Kishor Kumar is National secretary, Mathan Arulvel is National Youth coordinator and Carole Alderman is the of British Institute of Sai Education. There are 10 regions in UK and about 100 Sai centers. So if you are the next family, moving out of Riyadh to UK, you have plenty of SAI company. Incidentally I think Saudi is a perfect training ground for vedanta as one knows that being here is a temperory phenomena and this " sponsored' existence can come to a sudden end for various reasons mostly outside your control. Also sometimes you feel you are in heaven and some time you are in hell. Cars move around at cosmic speeds and while it is hot outside, it is cool inside. Somehow all the spritual energy gets converted to more physical weight! May be Riyal is yet another (Hindu) way to Moksha!!
