Dear Datta friends,

attached the link to my last photo album of this years Himalayan

Yatra.

The last section of our journey took us to Gomukh the source of

Bhagirathi (Ganga).

We decided to do this trek from Gangotri to Gomukh in one day only.

Normally it is a 1days trek to get to Bhojbasa and Gomukh. One way

means 14km + 5km. In fact it used to be 1km. less but since i visited

the Ganga source the first time, the glacier has pulled back about

1km. My first visit was in the beginning of the 90´s.

Global warming is visible everywhere. Anyway the Yatra was fantastic,

filled with experiences and divine views. We had wonderful encounters

and unexpected great weather conditions. Even beautiful Shiva Ghanas

crossed our path and we felt blessed. We decided to test our physical

endurance and go up and down in one day. The reason of this was that

we did not want to carry all our stuff, like tent, sleepingbag etc.

My camera equipment is already qiet heavy and this time we wanted to

travel more light.

We started a 5.00 am in Gangotri. Is was still dark and we needed our

flashlight to find our way. Nowadays you need a permit to enter

Gomukh. It costs 40,- RS. for the first 3 days for indians and Rs.

150,- for foreigners. God knows why the dfference.

(Nowadays many indians have by far more money than the average

foreigner.)

Anyway, the entrance to Devbhumi can´t be for free is´nt it?

They only allow max. 150 Yatri´s on this trek per day.

Our aim was to get a few liters Gomukh water for the Mysore

Saptarishi pool.

To make a long story short, we underestimated the effort of trekking

for 38km in the heights of the Himalayas. It turned out to be

something of the toughest i´ve ever done. The great thing about it

was that our decision was right anyway. On our return it started

snowing heavily in Gomukh and due to the hard physical effort we

shifted into a stateless state. These were the words of Roland my

dear companion. I experienced this during many Yatras. Whenever you

come to the edge of your capacity there is a good chance to get an

awareness shift. Suddenly everything merges into oneness and the

thought current is cut. There is no time, no feeling, no nothing,

only pure isness. It is sheer grace of god.

At this point i want to thank all the people who sent their heartfelt

and lovely comments about my earlier published pictures
