FROM PUTTAPARTHI...TESTING TIME FOR DEVOTEES !!!

It was SHIVARATHRI time LORD SHIVA & his consort PARVATHI were having a discussion.

PARVATHI said, " My Lord, just look at the crowds at your temple out there. There are hundreds waiting to get inside to get DARSHAN of the LINGAM. They've been waiting for hours together…what devotion!!! "

" So let us both go there & give all of them DARSHAN, something they would have never got before." said SHIVA."

SHIVA & PARVATHI landed at the temple gate & watching the huge crowds with a mischievous smile on their faces, they tried to move inside. At once people started yelling at them.

" Hey you, come in line " .

" Look at them, dressed like SHIVA & PARVATHI. Are you going to take part in a play today " ?

" Nice costume! Is that a real snake " ?

" Look at the kind of jewels the lady is wearing. Lady, where did you get all these jewels from? "

These were some of the statements from the people waiting in the serpentine queue!!!

SHIVA said, " We're real. We've come in person to give you all an excellent DARSHAN.'

The people laughed at them & one of them said, " Of course we all know that you're LORD SHIVA & if we don't let you pass, you would open your THIRD EYE & burn us all to ash'!!! "

" This is remarkable " , said THE LORD. "I'm the presiding deity of this temple & these people are not letting me only inside " , " How sad & tragic? " " Look', continued LORD SHIVA, "What would you like us to do to prove we're indeed who we claim to be? "

" OK', somebody said, " If you're really GOD, can you turn all these steel vessels into GOLD? "

" What? Is that all you want?" asked a disappointed SHIVA.

So LORD SHIVA with a wave of his hand turned all the steel vessels into GOLD. What followed was utter chaos with people running helter-skelter, with some trying to take the vessels to examine & others shouting 'GOLD' & running here & there!!!

PARVATHI was quite puzzled & asked SHIVA, " Where are these people running now? Aren't they satisfied with what you've done? "

The LORD replied with an amused look on his face, " Yes, my Dear, they're indeed satisfied. That's why they're all running to get more & more steel vessels!!! "
