Sairam,Happy BABA's day to you all. May BABA remove the web of darkness clouding our minds and give us vision of truth, love, kindness. May we start each day with His holy name. BABA bless one and all.Dakshina, charity, donations, aid, whatever one wants to call it, we do what we can and within our capacity. Giving money or charity is a good thing no doubt, but one interesting question I always harboured, how many of us really do charity from the bottom of our heart? Do charity for the love of humanity or to follow principles of BABA? Do we have an hidden agenda in giving money away? Do we discriminate who we give to? Forgive me and please bear with me, I was analyzing my own behaviour and thinking.. Do I give money with the intention of making my kind nature known to the wide world. Do I make an elaborate show of what I give. Do I give only to temples where I go? Do I give charity to organisations involved in helping poor and needy? May be I discriminate and choose only those temples or institutes where my name will be read aloud and printed on the stones and walls rather can giving it to the charity organisations which serve the needy and poor. May be I am reluctant to give to NGO's run by volunteers who reach out to the poor because I know i am not recognised there, and people who I know do not applaud my gesture because they do not care about poor and I only care about what others think about my generosity.I am sure you would have the same questions as I do and did about your own behaviour. The main purpose of Charity that BABA advocated is to teach about purification and detachment. But we intelligent as we are use that for gratification of our ego. BABA does not need a golden crown studded with diamonds, nor a sliver palquin. BABA, is a fakir and was and is always simple. BABA loves His children and is happy when HIS children are happy. Rich, poor, abled and crippled are His Children. If we really want to do charity, let us do it in silence, and serve people by providing them food, medical aid, clothing, helping them cope through Natural calamities, like now in China and Burma. Serving people is Serving BABA. That is true charity. Let us be sincere today, Thursday, BABA's holy day analyse why we give donations "anonymously" but make it a point to let people know we did it. Give only things which people can See and appreciate and applaud us for what we have done. Let us be honest, are we looking for the honour among men and be recognised by people or be honoured in BABA's durbar and gain His blessings by doing what He wants us to do.. This is what BABA tells us through Satcharta..Dakshina MimamsaIn short, Baba's main object in taking Dakshina, from His devotees was to teach them the lessons of Renunciation and Purification. "Out of the amount collected as Dakshina, Baba spent very little for His own sake, viz., for buying Chilim (clay pipe) and fuel for His Dhuni (sacred fire), and all the rest, He distributed as charity in varying proportions to various persons. All the paraphenalia of the Shirdi Sansthan was brought, by various rich devotees at the instance and suggestion of Radha-Krishna-Mai. Baba always used to get wild and scolded those, who brought costly and rich articles. He said to Mr. Nanasaheb Chandorkar, that all His property consisted of one koupin (codpiece), one stray piece of cloth, one Kafni and a tumrel (tinpot), and that all the people troubled Him by bringing all these unnecessary, useless and costly articles." Chapter 14 SatcharitaBABA bless us and guide us always.Sairam Anitha Kandukuri
