Guest guest
As far as I know dust and grime accumulates on the rudraksha beads with time, which has to be cleaned with warm water and a brush periodically. Next, to prevent it from getting dehydrated one has to apply Mysore Sandalwood Oil on it after it is perfectly dry. My questions are : 1) What is the correct procedure of maintaining them in a healthy condition? 2) How frequently has it to be done? 3) Can we use soap? Doesn't it harm them? 4) Can we expose them in the sunlight after washing with water so that the water is completely dried before applying oil? Or does it harm them? 5) Since Mysore Sandalwood Oil costs a fortune, is there any other option? What about coconut oil or olive oil? Which is better? One more question: Suppose if I try to enlarge the hole of a bead so as to put a thread thro it, and in the process the bead slightly chips off at the other end; can I still string it and use it or one should not use that bead? Does it cause any ill-effect? Please answer these few queries of mine. Regards, Dr. Pritesh Patel
