Today, I wish to declare one particular religion as the religion of my land. I leave it to you to decide among yourselves and to arrive at a unanimous decision as to which religion deserves royal patronage." Each of the leaders felt that their religion was the best, but none of the others obviously agreed. This went on for hours, and the king looked for help from the assembly. A fisherman from the crowd stood up hesitantly and said "O Mighty one! I am willing to show you the religion whose teachings nobody can refute. Please come with me to the river bank, and I shall demonstrate for you." The king was delighted and in no time the king arrived at the river with his entourage. The fisherman asked for a royal boat to be arranged so they can cross the river. A boat was made available instantly. The fisherman inspected the boat and rejected it because it has a broken plank on the top. The king ordered for another boat. In no time, another boat showed up. The fisherman rejected this boat too saying the paint on it has chipped. The king started to get restless, but contained his anger. A third boat was also rejected by the fisherman and the king began to shout on the fisherman. The fisherman replied, "My dear king! Any of these boats is capable of carrying us to the other shore; yet - we make choices based on whether it has a broken plank or a chipped paint or other blemishes. The same is true with religions - they all carry us to our destination." The king understood the wisdom in fisherman's words. --------------- Sab Ka Malik Ek! Allah Malik!! Om Sai Ram!
