Guest guest
Jai Sai Ram, I really loved this simple message of yours...It makes a very important point... Sister, I would like to ask you a question in relation to this. Please answer whenever you have time. In fact, anyone out there who would like to share their thoughts on this then I request you to do so. The story you have given below from the Shri Sai Satcharita also shows pretty much clearly that Baba just wanted us to open our heart in front of him in whatever way we want and even if it meant that he had to suffer a bit for it then he didn’t care because he is more thirsty for our love. In this context, if the management of any particular Shri Sai Baba temple wants the devotees to not: - Go beyond a particular area to get closer to Baba’s moorti, or - Not touch hands on Baba’s feet or face with love, or - Not to kiss Baba’s feet or hands, or - Any other rules in these lines which seem to have been okay for Baba before his Mahasamadhi, however, they are not practiced now. Would it be liked by Baba? At one side I think that such discipline is very important for a temple, but at other side, when I read your email I thought that Baba would have definitely allowed such things because the devotees’ love was involved which was more important to him than causing Baba inconvenience. I understand that a balance is an ideal thing, however, how should we find such a balance?? Please forgive me if I have said anything wrong. May Baba bless all, Jai Sai Ram to all. On Behalf Of Anitha Kandukuri Saturday, 16 June 2007 7:15 AM Cc: Message for the week. Sairam, I have noticed that my mails have been bouncing hence the messages I sent did not go through. I apologise for the inconvenience caused. Here is the message for week. Anitha Kandukuri <a_kandukuri Cc: , , saileela99 Message for the week Friday, 15 June 2007 9:42:55 AM Sairam, Wish you all a happy baba's day to you all. Worship - we all do that dont we. We pray to BABA. We have set time in a day when we engage in communion with God. Often some of us - due to play of Maya and flattery of Ego feel that our mode of worship is superior to that of our friend or neighbour. We feel we do a better job in worshiping BABA. Does BABA approve of such behaviour? No, never, HE wanted pure love, humbleness, and faith. HE does not care about formality or method or elaboratnes involved in HIS pooja. He is a worshipper of simple people and simple thoughts. Here is an example of his response to others rebuke in offering service to BABA.... Baba's Characteristics -- His Dependency on Bhaktas Baba allowed His devotees to serve Him in their own way, and did not like any other persons interfering in this. To quote an instance, the same Mavsibai was on another occasion, kneading Baba's abdomen. Seeing the fury and force used by her, all the other devotees felt nervous and anxious. They said, " Oh mother, be more considerate and moderate, otherwise you will break Baba's arteries and nerves " . At this Baba got up at once from His seat, dashed His satka on the ground. He got enraged and His eyes became red like a live charcoal. None dared to stand before or face Baba. Then He took hold of one end of the Satka with both hands and pressed it in the hollow of his abdomen. The other end He fixed to the post and began to press His abdomen against it. The satka which was about two or three feet in length seemed all to go into the abdomen and the people feared that the abdomen would be ruptured in a short time. The post was fixed and immovable and Baba began to go closer and closer to it and clasped the post firmly. Every moment the rupture was expected, and they were all dismayed, did not know what to do, and stood dumb with wonder and fear. Baba suffered this ordeal for the sake of His Bhakta. The other devotees wanted only to give a hint to the Mavsibai to be moderate in her service and not cause any trouble or pain to Baba. This they did with good intention, but Baba did not brook even this. They were surprised to see that their well-intentioned effort had resulted in this catastrophe; and they could do nothing but to wait and see. Fortunately, Baba's rage soon cooled down. He left the satka and resumed His seat. From this time onward, the devotees took the lesson that they should not meddle with anybody but allow him to serve Baba as he chooses. He was capable to gauge the merits and worth of the service rendered unto Him. Chapter 24 Satcharita BABA bless us and guide us always. Guest guest
Sairam Saurabh, Mind you, Shirdi Sai BABA's temples are the only places where any devotee from any caste can touch His moorti unlike the moortis of other gods and godesses where only people belonging to Brahmin caste are allowed into the sanctum sanitorium (irrespective of whether they eat meat or not). With growing BABA's devotees any number of temples is not enough to satiate peoples thirst for touching Baba's moorthy. If people were given a chance they would selfishly sit in front of BABA or hold on to HIS feet depriving others the opportunity to worship or stand in front of Him. Hence the reason for discipline and long queues and shortage of time to stand in front of BABA either in Shirdi or Tirupati. Baba allowed people to worship Him as they pleased, but He was amicable to change with change in circumstances. Earlier before devotees thronged Dwarakamai, BABA used to beg His food but gave it up when people started bringing food which would suffice entire Shirdi. With growing devotee population it is responsibility of temple management to enforce rules and regulations to enable a harmonious atmosphere in the temple which would enable all devotees to have darshan of BABA. Also in foriegn countries it is all the more important to put a restrain to number of people accessing BABA's moorthy, if there were any falls and accidents, believe me whether a devotee or not people do not mind suing Baba (temple) for the damages. This has practically happened and I am not lying to you. In such circumstances dicipline in temples is must ensure proper service of diety and devotee. In other words it is "you" and "me" who are the cause for how the temples are run now a days putting all the reservations aside. Hope this answers your question. No pun intended here, I am merely trying to state the facts as I see them happen in temples. Guest guest
Sairam Anitha akka, Thank you very much for your email – it clearly answers my Question and I am happy that I will be able to see it in a different way now. Actually I was not aware about a lot of things that you have discussed in your email about only Brahmins allowed to touch the moorti’s of certain other non-Sai Baba temples etc...Also with other things like people can sue the temple’s management and people can sit there selfishly in front of Baba for hours without giving others any chance...I see the point now. I have not paid attention to any other temple in detail except Baba’s and that too I started it only four years ago. I am glad I asked the Q because I can now use this principle to clear a lot of other Q’s I had in mind. And one more thing: I had never noted in my Shri Sai Satcharita reading that Baba also adapted according to circumstances (stopped his begging rounds to meet devotees)...I used to think if Baba didn’t have problem then why should we have problem with letting devotees to touch his moorti – but yes the circumstances are different now... My thinking is conditioned with only my past experiences (as is usually the case) and I am glad that I am able to see it according to today’s circumstances for this case. Thank you again, May Baba bless all, Jai Sai Ram to all On Behalf Of Anitha Kandukuri Sunday, 17 June 2007 9:14 AM Cc: ; ; saileela99 RE: Message for the week.
