Guest guest
Jgd, Here are some investigations into understanding the statement Datta = Dalit. So far i understand dalits to be: persons who have to live their lifes in sacrifice of the unwanted jobs in the community. In oder to survive they must adobt non-jealous attitude, and their daily work is great penance for the community for almost no salary. Hence datta = dalit. sgd, Win. " There is not much difference between Datta and Dalita. They are one and the same. You can understand the truth of this statement by reading Datta Charita, Sripada Vallabha Charitamruta and Narasimha Saraswati Charitra. " , Sri Swamiji - 10-6-2009. full speech http://www.dattapeetham.com/india/festivals/2009/datta_dalit_sammelana/hh_speech\ _dalit_conf.html On dalit: The word 'Dalit' comes from the Marathi language and means 'ground', 'suppressed', 'crushed' or 'broken to pieces'. On datta (dattapeetham.com): ... When penance and non-jealous nature unite in a single person, the highest truth emerges as Lord Dattatreya. As ultimate self-sacrifice, the Supreme God gave Himself as Datta to Atri and Anasooya. Hence, " Datta " means not only " that which is given " , but also as the ideal of " giving " without desire for reward, i.e. selfless giving.
