*NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON TANTRIC MATHEMATICS – A REPORT*

It is a well known fact that Pujya Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji is

not only an outstanding saint, but a deep rooted scientist as well. On many

occasions he explains the scientific implications of Srichakra to his

devotees, of course, briefly. I-SERVE, which took birth due to the blessings

of Pujya Sri Swamiji, has been taking special interest in this area of

research. As a part of this-

A National Seminar on the aspects of mathematics available in Tantra

Shastras was conducted by Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas in the

divine presence of His Holiness Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji at Sri

Ganapati Sachchidananda ashram, dundigal Hyderabad on 13th March, 2010. from

3pm to 6pm.

Over 200 delegates drawn from different universities of Hyderabad and other

places have participated in the workshop which was presided over by Prof.

K.V. Krishna Murthy, Chairman, I-SERVE. Dr. D. Swaminathan, Vice Chairman,

A.P. State Planning Commission was the Chief Guest of the workshop.

Prof. Krishna Murthy in his opening remarks explained that I-SERVE has been

working on the aspects of mathematics in the Vedic periods, in the Tantric

periods and the subsequent periods including the puranic period and the

recent Bharathi Krishna Theertha period. In the first and last category,

I-SERVE has already published some valuable books and the middle one viz;

the Mathematics relating to the Tantra Shastras is being pursued since a few

years. This is a tough branch which involves a lot of expertise both in the

traditional as well as modern sides of the mathematical wisdom. As far as

our knowledge goes, a seminar on this subject was never attempted by anybody

else in India and today’s seminar is a unique one, he explained. He said

that a classical book on this subject by name “The Two Facets of Geometry”

written by Dr. G.S. Murthy a prominent scientist retired from BARC is

published by I-SERVE and he requested Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda

Swamiji to release the book.

Before the release of the book, Dr. G.S. Murthy made an impressive

PowerPoint presentation on the contents of the book which received

appreciations from the scientists in the audience.

Prior to that, Prof. Arunachalam, former Vice Chancellor of Dravidian

University, Kuppam gave a detailed account of the growth of Tantric

Mathematics, in his keynote address.

Dr. P.G.K. Murthy, retired professor from Nagarjuna university presented a

talk on the mathematical implications of Sri Chakram.

Sri Vadlamudi Venkateshwar Rao, a retired principal from Guntur explained

extensively the implications of Sri Chakra construction through SriKala

Yantram of Kalyanananda Bharathi Swamiji.

Summing up the impressive presentations of the scholars, Sri Ganapati

Sachchidananda Swamiji of Datta Peetham, Mysore explained the depths of

Indian thought and blessed I-SERVE and the scholars for continuing their

research activities on Vedic Sciences.
