GURU VANDANA BY MAESTRO

In the Karnatack vocal concert held on 27th last at Nada Mantapa,

Nadanidhi Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna preferred to sing mostly the

compositions of Sri Ganapati Sachchidanandaswamiji. He also sang two new

ragas specially composed for the Swamiji's birthday that is

`Ganapati' (Gan Gan Ganapati) and `Anandam'

(Sachchidananda Mangala murtin). Among the great composers he chose for

rendition Thyagaraja's `Samajavaragamara' (Hindolan) which

was quite appropriated for the occasion. He concluded the two hours

recital with Swamiji's composition `Shiva Dayite (Reetihovla)

which evoked instant response from the devotees. Age has not mellowed

his rich, deep and timely timered voice. His open, full kroted voice

took in rich hues and subtle shades as it intermingled pleasantly with

the violin and mridangam by Datta Peetha Astana Vidwans M. Nagaraj and

Dr. Yella Venakateshwara Rao respectively.

The Tanivartanam between Dr. Rao and Dr. Karthik (ghatam) was very

delightful. In short the concert was a really treat to the ears and eyes

of the devotees. Accompanied by Dr. Yella Venkateshwara Rao on

Mridangam, Vidwan Mysore M. Nagaraj on Violin, Dr. Karthick on Ghatam

and Sri. Veera Raghavan on vocal support.

Halfway during the concert, Pujya Sri Swamiji went on to the stage and

sat on the musicians platform for the rest of the musical treat.
