This morning too there were more events in Puttaparthi, the programs were done by the devotees from Bihar region of India. This was part of the holi celebrations. Yesterday evening in mandir there were program by the devotees from Andhra Pradesh. The name of the program was "Jagruti" (Awakening), it was a musical dance drama. There was a band performance, Vedic chanting, Speech, Chakka Bhajana (a form of folk dance) and the musical dance drama called "Jagruthi". After the event Swami presented them with clothes. Prasadam called putha rakullu were distributed after the event.

"Kaarunyam paramam thapah" (Compassion towards all beings is the highest spiritual discipline). Man is the crown of creation; he is the highest among living beings. Therefore, he bears a great responsibility. He has to love other living beings, serve them and save them, for they are his kith and kin, and they too have the Divine Principle as their core. But, man is proving himself worse than animals due to self-centeredness, conceit, envy and anger. Though man is endowed with the virtues of compassion, charity, sympathy, fortitude and joy, he has given up these virtues and become inhuman in his conduct and behaviour.

Kaarunyam paramam thapah (Mitgefühl für alle Wesen ist die höchste spirituelle Disziplin). Der Mensch ist die Krone der Schöpfung; er ist der Höchste unter den lebenden Wesen. Darum trägt er eine große Verantwortung. Er muß andere lebende Wesen lieben, ihnen dienen und sie bewahren, denn sie sind seine Freunde und Verwandten, und auch sie haben das Göttliche Prinzip zum Mittelpunkt. Aber der Mensch erweist sich als schlimmer als die Tiere gemessen an seiner Selbstzentriertheit, Einbildung, Neid und Zorn. Obwohl der Mensch ausgestattet ist mit den Tugenden des Mitgefühls, der Nächstenliebe, des Verständnisses, der Seelenstärke und der Freude, hat er diese Tugenden aufgegeben und ist unmenschlich geworden in seinem Benehmen und Verhalten.

"Kaarunyam paramam thapah" (welas-asih terhadap sesama mahluk hidup merupakan disiplin spiritual tertinggi). Manusia merupakan puncak mahluk ciptaan (Tuhan). Oleh sebab itu, ia juga memikul tanggung-jawab yang besar. Seyogyanyalah ia mencintai mahluk hidup yang lain, melayani serta menyelamatkannya, sebab mereka juga termasuk sanak-keluarganya dan di dalam dirinya juga terkandung prinsip Divinity (keilahian). Akan tetapi, diakibatkan oleh karena sikapnya yang hanya mementingkan diri sendiri, congkak, sombong, iri-hati serta dengki & amarah, ternyata manusia malah membuktikan bahwa dirinya adalah jauh lebih parah daripada kaum binatang. Walaupun sebenarnya manusia telah dibekali dengan sifat-sifat welas-asih, kedermawanan, simpati, ketabahan dan keceriaan, rupanya ia telah melupakan semua nilai-nilai luhur itu dan menjelmakan dirinya menjadi raksasa dalam setiap perbuatan dan ti ndak-tanduknya.
