Namaste Lisa, whenever you have questions, just ask and we shall try

to assist :) Normally most other learned people suggest 30 to 40

days. But from my traditional training and experience, 45 days

minimum is best. And if one can continue wearing a mala after that,

is even better.

Yes its possible for ladies. For example, I know many Brahmin ladies

who continously wear their rudraksha and the beads keep their

energies. The energy does not stop. Yes you can also touch the beads

during this stage. Aum Namah Shivaya can also be recited for maximum

benefit. Its unnecessary to follow rules set by conservatives or

those who are superstitious.

Tell you one story in simple words:

There was a girl who only wanted to marry Shiva. In order to achieve

her dream, she performed severe and extremely austere penances like

fasting and reciting mantra to make Him come to her. She continued

the process for many years and did not stop (even during monthly

cycle, we would assume). Finally Shiva came to her and they married.

The above story is from a Sankrit text translated into English but I

cannot remember the title of either version. I've read too many and

my memory retention is not good about certain holy texts. Maybe

other friends can tell us which ancient book the story came from.

Also I cannot recall any ancient text that mentions women cannot wear

during monthly cycle.

The above story of non-stop penance by the girl for many years is an

example that women can wear safely to gain darshan of Lord Shiva.

Rudraksha has no side effects. It is Shiva's tears to save mankind

out of compassion. It means He has compassion for women too.

The other thing is: if women can carry on wearing gems during

monthly cycle, why not rudraksha?

Don't worry, your bhakti will have good results.

Aum Namah Shivaya

ladies, I can never complete 40 days wearing a mala. It is always

said that it is recommended to wear at least 30-40 days a rudraksha.

But it is not possible for ladies. So, is it stopping energy of the

rudraksha? Can we touch to rudrakshas during this period? Can we

continue to chant the mantra Om Namah Shivaya during cycle? I would

like to complete 40 days. I am not asking the rules accepted by

conservatives but the best action to get maximum benefit.
