Temple Visits in Tamil Nadu

The Uppliappan Temple [also known as Oppiliappan Temple] dedicated to

Lord Narayana is situated 7 kms south of Kumbhakonan. It is a very

ancient temple, thousands of years old and the beauty of the idol is

indescribable.

All food offerings made to the Lord are saltless and it is considered

a sin to

even carry salt inside this temple. However, the offerings are

tasty, inspite

of being saltless, as a result of the boon conferred by the Lord.

Please go to the following link for full details of the history of

the temple :

http://oppiliappantemple.org/history.html

Thirunageswaram Temple located a few kms away from Oppiliappan Temple

is an ancient and famous Rahu Stalam [where Rahu Bhagwan is seated

with his two consorts]. Persons having Rahu Dosham in their

horoscopes

can do milk abhisekham here as a remedial measure. Here the main

temple is of Naganathar {Lord of the Nagas} i.e. Lord Shiva in the

form

of a Lingam.

In and around Kumbhakonam, Tanjavur, Dindigul and Madurai ancient

temples dedicated to all the nine planets are situated. The Tamil

Nadu Govt. Tourism Department operates Luxury Air Condition Coaches

from Chennai to cover all these temples in a period of 2/3 days.

This saves one the trouble of trying to

locate these temples and is particularly helpful for those who do not

know

Tamil.

'Regards

Ramesh
