While it is beyond my capabilities to give the meaning of Sri Swamiji's

composition, with my limited knowledge, I try to write what I understood. I will

write one sentence of interpretation pallavi and for each of the charanams. At

the end I will give my interpretation on a word to word basis. I had to look

into the following sites to get the " right " word in English:

http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/gwynn/

http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/brown/

Hope those who know Telugu will pardon me for the mistakes I made in the

translation.

Interpretation for pallavi and charanams:

o janani ni padame naa sirasunanu

neeraja dalamai nedu merasenu

O Mother, words praising you flashed in my mind today like a petal (leaf) of

lotus

i navanava ratrula gala pavanamahima

na pedavula i padamula sagenu vinuma

nuvu gada telivivi sivasati lalama

Listen to the greatness of this new holy period of nine nights in the words

flowing on my lips - Aren't you the wisdom O graceful Parvati (wife of Lord

Siva)

akasamuna sagaramuna bhusthalamunanu

ni merapula ne nagavula ne sogasulanu

kanugoni subhamani murisiti marinu

I rejoiced very much at the good fortune of finding your sparks, your smiles and

your grace everywhere (in the sky, in the sea and on the earth)

Laksmivi nuvu - kalivi mari vanivi janani

ni sari tulatugaru suralo karunadhuni

teliyaga sachidanandavuga bhavani

O Mother, you are Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati - O river of mercy, no one equals
