Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta While it is beyond my capabilities to give the meaning of Sri Swamiji's composition, with my limited knowledge, I try to write what I understood. I will write one sentence of interpretation pallavi and for each of the charanams. At the end I will give my interpretation on a word to word basis. I had to look into the following sites to get the " right " word in English: http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/gwynn/ http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/brown/ Hope those who know Telugu will pardon me for the mistakes I made in the translation. Interpretation for pallavi and charanams: o janani ni padame naa sirasunanu neeraja dalamai nedu merasenu O Mother, words praising you flashed in my mind today like a petal (leaf) of lotus i navanava ratrula gala pavanamahima na pedavula i padamula sagenu vinuma nuvu gada telivivi sivasati lalama Listen to the greatness of this new holy period of nine nights in the words flowing on my lips - Aren't you the wisdom O graceful Parvati (wife of Lord Siva) akasamuna sagaramuna bhusthalamunanu ni merapula ne nagavula ne sogasulanu kanugoni subhamani murisiti marinu I rejoiced very much at the good fortune of finding your sparks, your smiles and your grace everywhere (in the sky, in the sea and on the earth) Laksmivi nuvu - kalivi mari vanivi janani ni sari tulatugaru suralo karunadhuni teliyaga sachidanandavuga bhavani O Mother, you are Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati - O river of mercy, no one equals you in heaven - iand f we know, you are the 'Sachidananda' O bhavani Word to word interpretation: O Janani = O Mother ni = your padame = words (of praise) na = my sirasunanu = in the head (mind) neeraja = lutus dalamai = as a leaf ( as a petal) nedu = today merasenu = flashed i = this nava = New or Nine ratrula = of nights nava-nava ratrula = of new nine-nights gala = existing pavana = holy mahima = greatness, effect (power of doing miracles) na = my pedavula = of lips i = this padamula = of owrds sagenu = flowed vinuma = listen (please listen) nuvu = you kada = are nuvu kada = aren't you telivivi = wisdom (you are wisdom) sivasati = Parvati (wife of Lord Siva) lalama = graceful, beautiful akasamuna = in the sky sagaramuna = in the sea bhusthalamunanu = on the earth ni = your merapula = sparks, (flashes, lightenings) ni = your nagavula = smiles ni = your sogasulanu = grace, beauty kanugoni = after finding subhamani = that it is good fortune murisiti = rejoiced marinu = very much Laksmivi = Goddes Lakshmi nuvu = you kalivi = Goddess Kali mari = and vanivi = Goddess Saraswati janani = mother ni = your sari = equal tulatugaru = don't match suralo = in the heaven karuna = mecry, compassion dhuni = river karunadhuni = river of compassion, mercy teliyaga = if we know sachidanandavuga = you are the Sachidananda - True Bliss (Happiness) of Intellect bhavani = Goddess Bhavani Jaya Guru Datta JAIGURUDATTA , " dattadevotees " <dattadevotees wrote: > > Jaya Guru Datta > > Can anyone provide the meaning to Sri Swamiji's Beautiful Telugu bhajan, O Janani? > > Thanks > > Sri Guru Datta > > Hanuman >
