Namaste Rajesh,

1) Rahu is regarded as being similar to Shani in some aspects of its animalistic nature and malefic affects. It has the habits of being dissastified with everything, restlesness and sometimes even recklessness. Take this with a grain of salt as a lot of people manage to rise above Rahu Mahadasa:

Rahu rules the head (take caution to always think positive and avoid negative thoughts) but is also believed to affect the feet. Both head (mentally) and feet should be taken care of during Rahu posits or Rahu Mahadasa.

It represents physical or muscular strength or weaknesses. It also represents hard labor, bad karma, hedonism, difficulties, suffering, anxieties affecting the nervous system, enmity, insatiable worldly desires, ignorance, love of worldly benefits and sensual gratification.

2) Friendly signs to Rahu are Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces. Cancer and Leo are enemies. Mercury, Venus and Saturn. Enemies are Sun, Moon and Mars. Jupiter is Neutral.

3) Rahu gives auspicious results in Taurus and Libra. In 8th and 9th houses its supposed to be strong and powerful. According to some scholars of Jyotish, Rahu is also powerful in the 1st house. Third, 6th, 10th and 11th houses are thought to be the best houses for malefic planets.

4) Rahu can give power when rightly posited or exalted wherein it gives fame, success in politics, money, physical beauty and attraction. It gives the effect of the planet in whose house it is placed, and according to the house in which it is placed. Rahu gives effects especially around 42 years old to 48 years old. The worst effects occur when Rahu is conjunct with any other planet as it destroys the house where its posited, EXCEPT 3rd, Sixth, 9th and 11th houses.

5) When effects of Rahu are bad, it destroys a person's ability to judge, causes dullness, makes the person devoid of reasoning which results in everything being out of control and everything seems in chaos. Lethargy, insensitivity, selfishness and self-centredness. Sometimes Rahu causes mental illness that cannot be diagnosed or cured easily. It may also cause suicidal tendencies due to depression. It can also lead to fears, phobias and diseases such as rheumatic tumors, etc.

6) Vishnu Shashranamam and Dakshinamoorthy Stotram are good remedies to deflect Rahu's malevolent effects. It was Lord Vishnu who killed Rahu by slicing him and Ketu (thus making Rahu the head and Ketu the tail; they then became referred to north node of the moon and south node of the moon respectively).

7) If you prefer a shorter way, then try the 108 Names of Vishnu. Shall post it in the next message. After the next message, there is another couple of posts for you to read. One is regarding the donation of hessonite or gomed. The other is about donating Rahu Shanti Pack on your behalf by Rudra Centre.

8) Yes you can also play the Vishnu Shashranamam daily as many times as possible.

9) Like yourself, I'm also sure there are many members here who have had experience with Rahu Mahadasa and would like to hear from all of them (Thanks in Advance).

Om Bholenath
