On January 2, 2008, the City Council of Frisco approved the plans to build the Temple. By the end of January 2008, 10 acre land will be purchased. Bravo to Dallas Satsangh group. ======================================================== Brief History We are very happy to inform that His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham came to Baton Rouge in August 2007 and met with mainly Dallas and Houston devotees. During this meeting He announced His sankalpa (Determination) to build a Hanuman Temple in the Dallas area. This is a unique, exceptional and one of a kind project for the following reasons: 1) This would be the first authentic, traditional Hanuman Temple in North America. 2) Hanuman Murthi will be made of Marakata (Emerald) stone (Green Jade stone). Worshipping murthies made of precious stones is considered more fruitful. 3) To our knowledge, this would be only the third Marakata Hanuman Temple in the world. Sri Swamiji built the first one in Hyderabad last year. 4) The Temple will be called “Karya Sidhi Hanuman Temple†which means “ wish fulfilling Hanuman Templeâ€. 5) It is also proposed that in addition to Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesha and Lord Venkateswara will be installed in the Temple. Since Swamiji’s announcement of His sankalpa in August, Dallas devotees have spent countless hours and tirelessly worked looking at several sites in McKinney, Plano, Lewisville, Allen and Frisco. Finally they selected a ten acre lot near the intersection of Independence and El Dorado in the city of Frisco. Contract was signed to acquire the land. Acquisition of the land and reality of the Temple depended on the approval of our Temple plans by City of Frisco. The following two meetings were held to make a decision for it’s disposition. 1) PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING was held on December 11, 2007 (Tuesday), 6:30 pm. Nearly 275 nearby Indians came to attend the meeting in support of Hanuman Temple. They spoke passionately in support of the Temple. The Commission unanimously approved our plans to build the Temple. 2) CITY COUNCIL MEETING was held on January 2, 2008 (Wednesday), 6:30 pm. Nearly 200 Indians came in support of the Temples. After some deliberation, the City Council approved the Project. Dallas Satsangh will finalize the financial arrangements and close the deal by the end of January 2008.
