Worship of God Narasimha

Namaste All,

Regarding Anil's question on worshiping Lord Nrsimhadeva:

 

Lord Nrsimhadeva is worshiped along with His eternal consorts - Srimati

Laksmidevi and/or Prahlada Maharaja

There is several mula-mantras for worshiping the Deity and also

Nrsimha Gayatri-mantra.

 

In case you/your friend are worshiping Nrsimhadeva in form of murti,

picture or yantra, you may use the following mantras:

1. klim nrsimhaya namah  (Nrsimhadeva only)

2. srim klim laksmi-nrsimhabhyam namah (Laksmi-Nrsimha)

3. pram klim prahlada-nrsimhabhyam namah (Prahlada-Nrsimha)

 

In case you have Nrsimha Shaligrama, then worship Lord Nrsimhadeva with

the mantra:

4. om namo narayanaya or

5. om namo bhagavate vasudevaya

 

The complete puja is very difficult to perform. What follows

is a simplified procedure for home worship:

 

1. sit on asana facing east and perform acamana

2. place an image, murti, shaligram of Nrisimhadeva in

front of you and and do the simple puja:

 

2.1 offer incense 7 times around Lord Nrisimhadeva

body:

esa dhupah klim nrsimhaya namah

2.2 offer camphor or ghee lamp:

esa dipah klim nrsimhaya namah

2.3 offer flowers :

etani puspani klim nrsimhaya namah

(idam puspam if offering a single flower)

 

3. reciete 108 or 1008 names of Nrsimhadeva

4. recite Nrsimha-kavaca-stotram

5. recite Nrsimha-pranama:

 

namas te narasimhaya prahladahlada-dayine

hiranyakasipor vaksah-sila-tanka-nakhalaye

 

ito nrsimhah parato nrsimho yato yato yami tato nrsimhah

bahir nrsimho hrdaye nrsimho nrsimham adim saranam prapadye
