Jaya Guru Datta

Thanks to our sister for this message.

Here in Trinidad we have commenced this Satyanarayan Vrat Katha since Januray of

this year and this is proving a major attraction for new devotees. As many as 300

to 400 devotees are attending. This weekend coming the 9th being a Saturday ,like

last month, the programme is held at Hanuman Murti in the open air.Beautiful

Sangeet evening Seva, special Satyanrayan Bhajan, musical item and ODISSI DANCE

item. All in the open air.Public is informed by newspaper ad.

Unfortunate though that some devotees don't understand the relevance of this

Vrat.

It is also known as CHITRA-POORNIMA for Devotees of Lord Satyanarayana. Lord

Satyanarayana is known as an extremely benevolent form of Lord Vishnu (it's also

our Swamiji's boy name!).

They say it is very auspicious to perform the Satyanarayana- Puja on this

Chitra-Poornima day for altering karmic balance.

CHITRA GUPTA is known as the celestial being who is the accountant incharge of

presenting akashic records to Lord Yama, the final judge.

Does this Satyanarayana- Puja has some connection or similarities with our

ANAGHA-VRATAM? Somebody told me long ago, that this vratam was earlier called

Satyanarayana- Puja. Is this true? Does somebody know more about this?

Thank you

Parvati
