Sai Vichaar is a Weekly newsletter distributed every Thursday and is devoted to the life, philosophy and teachings of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your interested associates in its original form. IN THIS ISSUE: FEATURE OF THE WEEK CONTRIBUTED ARTICLE DEVOTEES SAY PRAYER CLUB EXPERIENCE OF DEVOTEES QUOTATION OF THE WEEK QUESTION OF THE WEEK SAI ACTIVITIES FROM THE EDITORS KEYBOARD FEATURE OF THE WEEK: Sai..Omniscient Spiritual pursuit does not necessarily have to be confined to one particular way or a particular thought. How is it possible to realize the all pervading conscious by a pursuit that confines one to a particular practice or faith? Such a practice may be fruitful as long as one realizes its limitation and yearn to grow beyond the confines of human convenience. God blesses such souls. Ramachander Atmaram also known as Babasaheb Tarkhad was a staunch member of "Prardhana Samaj", a spiritual community that decries worship of any idols or other forms. Mr. Tarkhad's wife and son were devotes to Sai Baba and were frequent visitors to Shirdi. Mr. Tarkhad, a broad-minded humanist did not object to his family's worship of Baba. Once Mrs. Tarkhad and her son wanted to go to Shirdi to have Baba's darshan. It was decided that during their absence away from home, Mr. Tarkhad would perform the daily prayer of Sainath at home including the worship of Baba's picture and offering Prasad. The ritual went on without any hitch for the first two days. On the third day, Mr. Tarkhad performed the prayers to Baba's picture and left to his work forgetting to offer Prasad during the morning ritual. About the same time, Mrs.Tarkhad and her son were in Shirdi at Sai's abode. Baba called Mrs. Tarkhad nearer and said that He visited their home that morning and that He had to return empty handed, as there was nothing for Him to partake. Sensing something unwanted, Mrs. Tarkhad's son wrote a letter to his father back home explaining the puzzling parable that Baba narrated the morning. Later that day, Mr. Tarkhad returned home from work, realizing his mistake that morning he chided himself for not keeping his word to his wife and son. He, then, wrote a letter to his wife and son in Shirdi, detailing about the happening that day. Both the letters were delivered to the respective recipients at the same time. Mr.Tarkhad wondered how Baba was able to know about the event that happened several hundreds miles away. This incident brought about a big change in his attitude and he realized the oneness of Sai Baba, whether it is a picture, idol, or without. This incident shattered his personal convictions and broadened his comprehension of God and spirituality. He began to join his wife and son in offering prayers to Baba and eventually became one of the Baba's well-known devotees. CONTRIBUTED ARTICLE: Ten Guidelines from God Effective immediately, please be aware that there are changes you need to make in your life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill my promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this life. I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. Please, follow these 10 guidelines 1. Quit worrying: Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting Over every little thing that comes your way? 2. Put it on the list: Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not your list. Put it on my to-do-list. Let me be the one to take care of the problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to me. And although my to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care of anything you put into my hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize. 3. Trust me: Once you've given your burdens to me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on my list. Problem with finances? Put it on my list. Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For my sake, put it on my list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask. 4. Leave it alone: Don't wake up one morning and say, "well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave me your burdens and I'm taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with me and forget about them. Just let me do my job. 5. Talk to me: I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control. But there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't forget to talk to me - often! I love you! I want to hear your voice. I want you to include me in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with me. I want to be your dearest friend. 6. Have faith: I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where you are. Have faith in me that I know what I'm doing. Trust me; you wouldn't want the view from my eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust me. Although I have a much h bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be? 7. Share: You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none. (Contributed by Ankita) CONTRIBUTED ARTICLE: Ten Guidelines from God (continued.....) 8. Be patient: I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when it takes me a little longer than you expect to handle something on my to-do-list? Trust in my timing, for my timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, and rush. 9. Be kind: Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for my sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your differences. 10. Love yourself: As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return. I am a god of love. Love me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes my heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me. Don't ever forget that. (Contributed by Ankita) DEVOTEES SAY: SrinivasThanks Baba for granting my wish and keeping my son eligible for the year-end grand academic recognition. With only your wishes he was able to achieve this for this term. I am confident that you will help him do the same till the year-end. ChaitraMy exams are going to start from December 10th, please Baba be with me. I am working hard as always, please bless me with a good result this time. SameerI would like to thank Baba for the new job, which I procured through His grace. May He forgive me for delaying the posting of this post. AdiMy wife posted a prayer in Sai Vichaar last week praying Baba to cure me. I was suffering since 3 weeks and could not take it anymore. But as always, Baba rescued me. Surprisingly, the moment my wife started typing the prayer, I started feeling relieved from that terrible pain. The feeling is difficult to put into words. I am fine now and would like to thank Baba for curing me. VikasI couldn't think that I would get back my mobile handset, which was lost due to my mistake. I bought this expensive handset just few months ago with lot of difficulties. But due to my fault I forgot it in a common place. And when I prayed Baba with my deep heart about finding the mobile handset I got it at the same place by an honest person after long time. It happened only due to Baba's grace on me otherwise I couldn't get it back. Thank you Baba for helping me and showering Your bliss on us. RodabeSai Baba, I thank you for always being there for us. PRAYER CLUB: SrideviBaba please be within the operation room and protect my baby and me. The day is approaching and the operation is also on Thursday. I am slightly frightened, I have complete faith in You and I know You will help me in all time. ShylajaI have gone through a very bad married life but I am unable to forget my husband. I went and met him recently also but the response was very poor. I request You to unite me and my son aged 7 years with my husband. Only You can unite us and I sincerely look forward for that day. RajeevI pray to You, bring back the health of Bapuji who got two heart attacks one after the other on his visit to India to hold satsangs and kirtans there. He has done so much to spread Your message to all the people in India, U.S, Europe and Africa for the last 30 years (continuous) and has not taken any money or favor from anyone. He has done an excellent and un- parallel service towards humanity. So please Baba make him comfortable and bless him to regain his health back to normal. SuneelSai Baba, please forgive me if I have done something wrong unknowingly or knowingly although it is You who makes me to perform all karmas. Even then please forgive me. I am suffering, please have pity on me. Sai devoteeBaba, I am facing so many problems day by day. Baba I can't concentrate on my job and my life. I pray Baba you will give my parents good health and healthier days so that they may see my children and be apart of our livelihood. Forgive me Baba, please for all my trespasses. I don't know what and how to start a business. Bless our family with peace of health and wealth. EXPERIENCE OF DEVOTEES: SonuJai Sai Ram. Yet another child of Baba with an experience to share. I would like to relate one of the most important events in my life. I got married in September 2007 to a guy of my choice. But it was not an easy as it is in most of the cases. I met this guy couple of years ago and asked Baba whether I should go ahead with this guy (I usually follow the practice if taking out a chit in front of Baba's photo after narrating the question to him in my heart). The answer was yes. Time saw the relationship maturing and growing strong but being from different communities my parents would never allow this to happen. So when I told them about my wish they reacted in every possible way. This was in October 2006. For next 6 months it was a head-on between my parents and me. Most of the times, after an argument I would feel like dissolving the relationship between me and the guy because of the immense pressure that I was under, but every time when I asked Sai, He told me to stay put and trust in him that he will see this relationship happen. True to every word of his, he saw it happen in September 2007. No doubt the in-between time was like wartime both for me and my partner (the family also) but here I am now, happy and settled with the partner of my choice. All that I want to say through this is that we need to suffer in present sometimes to have a blessed future. Baba acted like a support system, a pillar of strength, as He always does for his children. Had it not been for His insistence to stay in the relationship, I would have called the relationship off a long time ago, and would have devoid myself of all the love and support that I am enjoying now. So stay put...Sai will see us through. Let humility prevail. NaineshThere is no way to thank you but I bow to Your lotus feet. My son had some blood work done and some results as per doctor were not great and doctor wanted to see him again. We prayed to Baba applied his udhi and made him drink some. When doctor checked him again, everything was fine. Thanks Baba, please shower Your grace on all Your devotees always.
