Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta - Can anyone tell me which Raga system Sri Swamiji is referring to in this transcript from the new Youtube video, " English message by HH Sri Swamiji before the 100th foreign tour " . I hear it as *Mailakata Raga System,* correct me if I'm wrong: “Music is my language. Music is my religion. Music is my expression. Music is a powerful source for healing and meditation. Since childhood Swamiji was fascinated by music. My mother Jayalakshmi Mata wrote Bhajans and sang them. She sang beautifully. My mother used to tell me about her ancestor Venkatamukhi. His contribution to the *Mailakata Raga System* was great. Using music, crystals, herbs, astrology and water, a concept called Raga Ragini Vidya developed. I must tell here that listening to music is not a therapy on its own. It should be used along with the normal medicines given by doctors. Don’t stop taking medicines given by doctors. Music is a tool which helps the medication to work better. It helps the body to heal faster. In 1976 Swamiji started tours out of India. Music had a very important place in the tour programmes. Meditation and Healing Concerts started in 1986. The first program was in Amsterdam. Swamiji is very happy that the 100th foreign tour took place with a special concert in Singapore. This wonderful program was held in Esplanade Concert Hall on 24th January 2009. Music has amazed me – let it amaze you!!” SGD Bharani
Guest guest
I think that it should read Melakarta Raga system. Melakarta Raga has all the seven notes (Sa,Re,Ga,Ma,Pa,Da,Ni,Sa) in them both while ascending and descending. If I remember right, there are 72 melekarta ragas, and Sri.Venkatamakhi codified them. If anyone knows anything more on this, please feel free to add. Thanks, Ravi JAIGURUDATTA [JAIGURUDATTA ] On Behalf Of www. dycden.dk Friday, March 27, 2009 1:05 PM JAIGURUDATTA Transcipt of the " English message of HH Sri Swamiji on 100th foreign tour " Jaya Guru Datta - Can anyone tell me which Raga system Sri Swamiji is referring to in this transcript from the new Youtube video, " English message by HH Sri Swamiji before the 100th foreign tour " .
