Guest guest
Some Miracles, My Divine ...(Devotees Experience) There has been no dearth of writings on the miracles wrought by our Lord Sai. However, I would like to share a few of my personal experiences with my dear Sai sisters and brothers. We had a very nasty experience a couple of years ago. We had been to Puttapharthi and were retuning home to Coimbatore by car. We left ‘Parthi in the early hours of the Brahma Muhurtam, as we wanted to reach Coimbatore before nightfall. It was a moonless night. There were no lights on that stretch of road, so it was pitch dark. We were traveling along at a fairly good speed. Suddenly, to your great shock and utter consternation, we beheld a most frightening scene on the road ahead of us, illumined by the headlights of our car. A group of about fifteen men was standing across the road, barricading it. They were wearing nothing but lion cloths and black hoods and some had the lower parts of their faces covered. Some wielded iron crowbars, others had bricks ready to throw at us. Moreover, they had put boulders across the road to stop the progress of the car. All this we saw and observed in that awful moment and were terror-struck. The Dakotas were utterly still and made no sound at all. An eerie silence pervaded the night air. I cannot be quite sure of what happened after that. It all took in a split second. My mother says that both my sister and I cried out ‘Baba’ loudly. The driver was about to apply the brakes of the car, when my father said to him, ‘don’t stop, just accelerate and forge ahead.” The driver implicitly obeying, accelerated. The car shot forward at great speed. The Dakotas were taken by surprise, some of them sprang aside to avoid the impact of the speeding car, others were not so quick in reacting and were, I think, struck by the car and feel to a side. At the same time some of the bandits, being consumed by a wild fury, started to pound the car with their iron crow bars and to pelt us with their bricks. stThe glass windows were completely smashed, but none of us were hurt, except the driver who was stuck on the wrist. But he somehow managed to steer the car through the boulders with one hand, and we sped away from the scene with all the speed we could muster, pursed by flying bricks and ones and loud, angry sheiks. We dared not stop the car until we had passed the Andhra Pradesh border and crossed into Karnataka. Then we got down to inspect the damage to the car. We were horrified by what we saw! All the windows had been smashed to smithereens and there was broken glass scattered everywhere around us in the car, on the mats and on the floor. But there was not a scratch on anyone of us! A piece of broken glass could easily have got into someone’s guys. They body of the car was hideously damaged, were the crowbars and flying bricks had hit it. The front nameplate and mudguard were smashed and the bonnet had caved in. It was a miracle that the engine had not been damaged. The car spent three months in the workshop. Except for the nasty shock and the driver’s sprained wrist, none of us was seriously affected by the ghastly incident. Our merciful Baba had saved us that day from certain massacre. It is not a miracle that a carload of three women, three children, and an invalid with the only person capable of putting up a fight being the driver, escapes from an ambush set by fifteen strong men wearing masks and hoods and wielding crowbars and bricks? It is not Baba’s doing? This is how our beloved Lord saves and guards His devotees.
