SAI RAM DEAR Brothers and Sisters,

If a seeker approaches a master with the objective of judging him or evaluating his knowledge, certainly the seeker is not going to benefit. They are some in our midst who approach a man of wisdom only to make them understand as to how far they themselves are men of wisdom. Such an exhibitionistic attitude on their part of their laboriously gathered second hand information will choke their hearts and they will not be able to gain anything from the master`s words which rise from the latter`s own first hand experience. Water flows only froma higher level to a lower level. This is true even in case of knowledge. Unless the seeker has the meekness and spirit of surrender, knowledge can not reach him. The surrender of the ego is the unveiling of the Divine in oneself and the degree to which the Divine is manifest,to that degree the seeker raises himself in his potency to face life and to remain equanimous in all circumstances. A true Vedantik student surrenders himself to the Master. This does not mean that the seeker is an intellectual slave to the master. These practises, when pursued for some time, easily make the seeker fully turned up to the Master1s heart. What the master has to convey is the experience of the transcendental and as the Infinite can not be defined in finite words , the words of the Master can echo their message only in a bosom that has been stilled in complete love.

Any discordant notes arising in the bosom of the disciple create disturbances which distort the true significance of scriptural words used by the Master during his discourse. In order that the student or seeker himself does not create any discordant notes and destroy the harmony, he needs to serve and surrender,to pray and worship at the Master`s feet.

(to be continued)

With Loving SAI RAMs,

G.Balasubramanian
