Guest guest
In considering Mukunda's questions about Ushtra, I have been looking at the sanskrit dictionary online which has raised a question only those who know Sanskrit well can answer.... Is there a connection between Usha, the dawn, and Ushtra? Also, in looking at some related words, I see that some meanings have connection to a bull. If there is a linguistic connection between these words, does it link Nandi and Ushtra? Afterall, isn't Hanuman an incarnation of Shiva? Any insight on this would be welcome. See below usR f. Jaya Guru Datta, Ishwari - Daria jaigurudatta Wednesday, March 04, 2009 8:39 AM Hanuman Vahana Jaya Guru Datta, Mukunda for starting this interesting and " enlightening " :} discussion. Online I found this sanskrit definition of Ushtra connected to the world Zarathushtra: Sanskrit jarat old + ushtra he who bears light, the intellect in the act of cognition from the verbal root ujsh light] It's interesting that the camel's humps look like light waves. It's also interesting that Persians (who are connected to Zarathushtra) rode camels. Certainly there was an influence from this faith in India and vice versa....can anyone make a deeper connection to this? Or to the image of the humps as light waves?
