Guest guest
" During the production process, gelatin changes chemically so that the final product is not the same in composition or identity as it was in the original protein form. Because of this, gelatin isn't considered a meat by the United States Government or the FDA " . I guess one more reason why it finds its way into many of the products out in the market today. Few more products that contain gelatin: Planters roasted Peanuts IceBreakers Ice cubes Altoids mint (a few flavors) Welch Juices (In addition some of the " fresh " juices in the market contain other animal products such as cochineal and lanolin) Skittles/Starbust Candies On Tue, Dec 8, 2009 at 12:30 AM, Yashodra Patel <yashdrasunreshwrote: > > > Gelatin is made by boiling bones with water for several hours till creamy > consistency, which is used in ice creams, custards, sweets, and many other > food products. > > Tallow is also a beef fat product used in making soap. Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta, Lanolin is used in some tooth paste and facial creams. Lanolin is the fat taken from the wool of sheep. Musk is another product from animal oils used in cosmetics. No wonder my parents used plant twigs from specific trees for brushing teeth. Cheese can contain renin which is taken from cow's stomach to help coagulate to form curd/cheese. Paneer is the safer option which is made with milk and lemon. Anti-dotes for Flu( jabs to protect against Flu fever) is from intestine of animals to immunise humans. UK is lucky to have EU laws where labels are mandatory describing products ' suitable for vegatarians' where necessary.
