Dear Narasimhaye & Friends,

Namaste,

Today while browsing on the net I found this picture

of One Mukhi Round Rudraksha on the Rediff website

(under priceless wonders- follow the link below).

I don't know if it is fake or true but just thought of

sharing it here with everyone.

Mukhi Rudraksha

August 24, 2007

The word Rudraksha finds its origin in Hindu

scriptures. In Sanskrit Rudraksham means Rudraksha

fruit as well as Rudraksha tree.

Rudraksha tree grows on mountains and hilly regions of

Nepal, Indonesia, Java, Sumatra and Burma. The

Rudraksha fruit first became the ornament of human

adornment primarily because of its spiritual value.

As per details found in the Purana there are fourteen

kinds of Rudraksha, which are called Mukhi or faceted

Rudraksha.

Mukhi or faces of Rudraksha are deep lines found on

the surface of the Rudraksha from bottom to the top

hole. The number of these lines decides the type or

Mukhi Rudraksha.

For example, if a Rudraksha has three such lines it is

called 3 Mukhi or 3 faced Rudraksha.

This (above) is a rare and unique one 'Mukhi

Rudraksha' surrounded by some 108 diamonds.

It is priced at a whopping Rs 30,000,00 ($71,400).

According to the scriptures Rudraksha has evolved from

the eyes of Lord Shiva hence, it's called Rudraksha.

Rudra means Shiva and Aksha means eyes.
