Home Minister K Jana Reddy who graced the occasion as a chief guest switched on the camera. The film will have Nagababu, Suman, Siva Parvathi and Siva Krishna in other important roles. G Ramakrishna is directing the devotional flick. The film is currently being shot at five different sets of a Shirdi village erected on Road No 25 in Jubilee Hills. Set to be completed in three schedules, the film has music scored by Lalit Suresh. Director B Gopal was also present on the occasion. Shooting of Jagadguru Sri Shirdi Saibaba directed by G Ramakrishna and produced by BV Reddy under the banner of SRR Creations with the producer himself playing the title role was launched in Hyderabad on February 12. Dr Mohanbabu gave the clap, while home minister K Janareddy switched on the camera for the muhurat shot picturised under the honorary direction of B Gopal. Producer BV Reddy says, “I am very happy to play the title role. We will continue the shooting for about one month in and around Hyderabad and complete the film in a single schedule.”Director G Ramakrishna says, “We are trying to portray Saibaba's role in a different angle. We will highlight the British rule and the problems faced by the people during their regime. We are also trying to explain the meta-physical relationship of Baba with the freedom fighters.”According to the music director there are seven songs in the film. Nagababu, Suman, Sivakrishna, Brahmaji, Narayana Rao, Raghunatha Reddy, Ramireddy, Kota Sankara Rao, Satya Reddy, Srinivasa Reddy, Gundu Hanumanta Rao, Hemasundar, Chittibabu, Sarika Ramachandra Rao, Siva Satyanarayana Sivaparvathi, Ramaprabha, Indrani, Divya Reddy and others are in the cast. Dialogues are by Kommanapalli Ganapati Rao, lyrics are by Ashokteja, Gurucharan and Parimi Ramanarasimham, music is by Lalith Suresh, camera is by Srinivasa Reddy, editing is by Menaga Sreenu, while story, screenplay and direction are by G Ramakrishna. And he even quit smoking and drinking to get into the skin of the character. " I have quit smoking and drinking for the last one-and-a-half years and plan to continue with it in the future too, " Jackie told IANS. The actor has also turned completely vegetarian. " I did not have the habit of eating non-vegetarian food much, but I have stopped it completely now, " Jackie said. Jackie, who has played a cop with élan in many films, admits that he was initially apprehensive about getting into the role of the spiritual guru for the film titled " Malik Ek " . But director Deepak Balraj Vij was adamant about casting him. " Initially, when he had approached me with the project, I did not agree as I thought playing Sai Baba would not be possible for me. " But the constant persuasion from the director made me say yes and then I never looked back, " said Jackie, who won the Filmfare best actor award for his performance in " Parinda " (1989). Jackie, who is also an ardent follower of the spiritual guru, said: " Now I feel as if Baba is guiding me in the film and I am only following his instructions.
