Namaste Hiroppi, in the old days and even today, seals made of ivory to

be used with red ink are considered symbols of authority, prestige or

simply putting one's name of a piece of Asian poetry, artwork or

calligraphy.

They are mainly used in Buddhist countries which also present the best

pieces to visiting foreign dignitaries.

If you are Buddhist, then I don't think Buddhism would consider ivory

as a sin. But in Hinduism, its not good karma.

Please meditate on the matter and see if you still want to continue

using it. Long ago, I was sent a heavy steel seal from Japan with wax

to use and this was great. The person who sent it used to live in

Morioka.
