Dear Sai Devotees, We continue with Sumathi Satakam............. ---------------------- 53. O Sumati! Friendships with ill-minded people, lakes without lotus flowers, and nights without moon are not worthy of the situation. 54. O Sumati! Snakes have poison in their heads; Scorpions in their tail; and a crook has poison in his entire body. This is another one of very popular poems in this Sumathi Satakam. 55. O Sumati! No matter how much money is given, a concubine doesn’t speak the truth; thus do not trust those folks even if they swear to tell the truth. 56. O Sumati! The nature of the society is such that even close family members would keep the distance from us if we don’t keep our hair, body or clothes clean. 57. O Sumati! Just as the honey gathered meticulously by the honey bees ends up belonging to others, money accumulated by a miser ends up with the kings or others. 58. O Sumati! A king causing misery to his people based on false accusations from his minister is akin to tearing down the

sandalwood trees for firewood. 59. O Sumati! No mater how much money your family has, you always end up with what is due to you (based on destiny) – just as Lord Shiva had to beg even though he is close to Kubera (the Lord of Wealth). 60. O

Sumati! The help rendered for good people is very desirable, it begets the doer great happiness just like the sweet coconut water that is full of rich minerals and vitamins. 61. O Sumati! Do not walk alone in new areas; Do not eat at enemy’s place; Do not desire others’ wealth, and do not hurt others with your speech. 62. O Sumati! Don’t believe the tax man, nor the gambler, nor the goldsmith, nor the concubine, nor the store merchant, nor the left-handed folks. -------------------- OM SAI RAM!
