Guest guest
Dear Sai Devotees, We continue with Sumathi Satakam............. ---------------------- 43. O Sumati! Women treat their husbands very well as long as they the husbands are earning a lot of money and showering the women in comforts; alas, the same women treat the husbands bad as soon as the money flow stops. 44. O Sumati! Don’t fret over things that already happened; Don’t expect that women will always love you; Don’t talk to ladies in the royal palaces – That should be your guideline of behavior. 45. O Sumati! Just as the mounds made by ants (anthills) become home for snakes, any accumulation of gold/wealth becomes the property of the king (government). 46. O Sumati! Once you become prosperous, people that are not related to you begin to cling around you claiming relationships…only to benefit from your riches. 47. O Sumati! The ornament for a hand is charity; the ornament for kings is truthfulness; and the ornament for a woman is her purity and faithfulness. 48. O Sumati! You shall not achieve anything if you are not hardworking and patient; rest assured of success once you can be hardworking and patient. Interesting comparison with Sraddha (Faith) and Saburi (Patience) that Sadguru Sai ever so diligently recommended to His devotees. 49. O Sumati! Your anger is your enemy; Your peaceful attitude is your shield of protection; Your mercy/forgiveness is your relative; Your happiness is heaven, and your sadness is hell…this is the truth! This by far is one of the most popular poems in this Sumathi Satakam. 50. O Sumati! Alas people are such that they don’t praise their own clan; they don’t appreciate the good behavior of their sons; they don’t praise the beauty of the wife; and they don’t respect the herbal medicines in their backyard. The author highlights the view that ‘grass always looks greener at a distance’. 51. O Sumati! Human nature is such that people view the world happily when they are happy, sadly when they are sad. 52. O Sumati! Stay away from places where you don’t have people that you care for and in return care for you, or don’t respect your views/words, or pick fights easily, or begin to doubt you; such places must be avoided completely. -------------------- OM SAI RAM!
