The Shiva Purana excerpts noted below are contrary to what is written above

about Daksha Prajapati's feelings towards Lord Shiva and the marriage to his

daughter, Sati.

Shiva Purana

Chapter 10 verse 45.

0 Brahma, command Daksha. Let him carry out a penance strenuously with a great

devotion to beget her to be given as a wife unto Siva.

 

Chapter 12 Verses 15-35:

Brahma said:-

15. 0 sage, thus eulogised by Daksha of purified soul, & #8232;the Goddess spoke

to Daksha, although she knew what his & #8232;desire was.

The Goddess said:-

16. Daksha I am very much delighted by your & #8232;great devotion. Choose a

boon according to your desire. & #8232;There is nothing which shall not be

granted to you.

Brahma said :-

17. On hearing the words of the mother of the universe,

Daksha Prajapati was very happy and he said to Sivaa & #8232;after bowing to her

frequently.

Daksha said :.-

18. 0 wielder of great illusion, 0 mother of the universe, if you wish to grant

me any boon please listen to my & #8232;words with pleasure. Be pleased to fulfil

my desire.

19. My lord and master Siva has manifested Himself & #8232;as Brahma's son in the

name of Rudra. He is the perfect & #8232;and fullfledged incarnation of the

supreme soul.

20. You have not so far incarnated. Who will be & #8232;His wife? Hence 0 Sivaa,

take an incarnation on the Earth & #8232;and fascinate the great lord.

21. Excepting you, no other lady will ever be compet & #8232;ent to enthral Him.

Hence be born as my daughter and & #8232;become Siva's consort.

22. Exhibiting your divine sports as this, 0 Goddess, & #8232;you be the

enchantress of Siva, this is the only boon I & #8232;crave of you. I speak out

the truth to you.

23. This fulfils my own interests. Indeed it fulfills the & #8232;interests of

all the worlds as well as those of Brahma, Vishnu & #8232;and Siva. Hence I have

been induced by Brahma in this & #8232;direction.

Brahma said :-

24. On hearing these words of Daksha the mother of & #8232;the universe replied

smilingly after thinking on Siva.

The Goddess said :-

25. Dear one, 0 Daksha Prajapati, listen to my weighty & #8232;words. I tell you

the truth. I am much delighted by your & #8232;devotion. I shall bestow

everything.

26. Subservient to your devotion, 0 Daksha, I, the great & #8232;Goddess, shall

be born of your wife as your daughter. & #8232;There is no doubt in this.

27. 0 sinless one, I shall perform a penance strenuously & #8232;and shall become

Siva's wife, after I have secured a boon & #8232;from Him to that effect.

28. Otherwise there is no chance of the fulfilment & #8232;of the object. The

lord is free from all aberrations. He & #8232;is the full incarnation of

Sadaasiva, worthy of being served & #8232;by Brahma and Vishnu.

29. I am His slave for birth (incarnation). Siva who & #8232;forms is indeed my

master.

30. It was by His favour that He manifested & #8232;the eyebrows of Brahma. I too

shall incarnate & #8232;favour and at His bidding.

31. 0 dear one, go back to your residence. I have & #8232;known my mission. Born

as your daughter, ere long I shall & #8232;be Siva's wife.

32. Having spoken these splendid words, She sought & #8232;and obtained Siva's

permission through mental communion & #8232;While thinking on Siva's lotus-like

feet, the Goddess spoke as & #8232;follows:

33. But 0 Prajapati, you have to take a vow. & #8232;a precondition. I shall tell

you. It is true, never & #8232;please understand.

34. If in future you were to be less respectful to me & #8232;I will cast off my

body. I shall withdraw myself to my & #8232;soul or take to another form. It is

true.

35. 0 Daksha, this boon has been granted to you.

At every creation I shall be born as your daughter and & #8232;become the beloved

of Siva.

Chapter 15 Verse 10

10. Daksha, the lord of worlds, on seeing her blooming & #8232;in the proper age

thought within- " How shall I give my & #8232;daughter to Siva ? "

 

Chapter 18 Verses 8-12

Brahma said :-

8. 0 sage Narada, on hearing the words of Siva best & #8232;speaking of His

strict adherence to the conventions of the & #8232;world I told Siva, consoling

Him.

9. 0 bull·emblemed God, hear what my son told me & #8232;regarding Sati. Rest

assured that what you wanted to achieve has been achieved.

10. Daksha has said, " My daughter shall go to Him.

She has been intended for Him. This has been my desire. " & #8232;Now that you

also say, it is all the more necessary that it & #8232;shall be carried out.

11. For this purpose Siva had been propitiated by my & #8232;daughter. Now He too

seeks her. Hence She has to be & #8232;offered to Him by me.

12. Let Him come to me in an auspicious conjunction & #8232;of stars. Then, 0

Brahma, I shall offer my daughter to Him & #8232;in the form of Alms
