Guest guest
Dear friends, On this beautiful day of Mahashivratri I'd like to share an expreience very close to my heart with all of you. As some of you know, my husband I are going through an excruciating time in our marriage. We have a storm raging against the foundtion of our marriage in the form of his very family. WE are devoted to each other and despite the storms, the love just keeps growing, but my husband feels helpless and weak to stand up against the unruly demands of his family to end our marriage. A midst all this turmoil, one night some days ago, I had a dream where in I saw myself in front of a huge statue of Lord Shiva and in front of it a tiny statue of Baba, The feeling I got when I looked at them is indescribable, the strength, the solace..... So when i woke up I thought I need to learn more about Lord Shiva, because being a christian I hardly knew anything about him, but the experience in my dream was so strong thta I started readig about him and what I learnt about Lord Shiva, changed my life to a great deal... I learnt of his great love for his consort and his 'ardhangini' as he lovigly called her, Parvati. Their's is a union whi I called an epitome of divine love and a marriage which is so holy and sacred that it make me tremble with reverence. From him I got the strength to carry the cross of my tears, the absence of my husband, the pain of rejection, the continuous devotion to my husband and his family no matter what their are trying to do.... and most importantly I got the hope and faith that God will change the hearts of my husband's family and give my husband the neccesary wisdom to do God's will.... Today , there are many couple fighting similar battles and feel it is easier to succumb to the pressures of this world and go ahead and commit the grave sin of ending the holy sacramment of matrimony. Unfortunately... today we also have many elders who have forgotten to respect the sanctity of a marriage as a divine union and yes there are also those who respect this union and want their children to hold on to their vows but we want to seek an easy way out.... I believe , Lord Shiva and parvati have given us a perfect example of a divine union which went beyond a single birth. I know there are many beliefs linked to Mahashivratri, some say it is the night Shiva was born, but I choose to believe that this is the night of the union of the Lord with his ardhangini and in this chaotic world where we do not have many examples to hold on to our sacraments of marriage...I thank them for touching my life to do the same. Prayers and Goodwill, Silvia.
