If you greet even your enemy saying "Hello Brother", he too will greet you back saying "Hello Brother". This is called "Yadh Bhaavam, Tadh Bhavathi" (As is the feeling, so is the result). Therefore, we should only have good feelings. Whatever good or bad we experience is the result of our own thoughts. It is the power of the thoughts that is responsible for it.
