Pls see below: When you are wearing Rudraksha Mala and want to pray to Lord Shiva, you can use the universal mantra for rudraksha beads 'Om Namah Shivaya'. Use a japa mala when reciting mantras. When praying to other Gods, you can either wear your personal rudraksha mala or place it on the altar while reciting the God's mantra. Again, use a japa mala when chanting mantras.
