Only some time ago there was a similar topic came for discussion and I circulated the views of the devotees at that time also, which are reproduced again below the current ones.

respected brothers and sisters sairam ,i want to know that what are the criterias to follow while reading shirdi saisachcharita, would you mind telling me now please i really want to know about it,and while i read it i want to read it in very sincere and with full devotion so that i will be happy forever

Sai ram sister,

I do not think that there is any fast rule in reading Saicharitra. The only need is Shradda and Saburi. But for the purpose of descipline, we can read it in 7 days, daily some chapters. You can read any time. But it is better to selecta place and do it all the days so that the mind gets used to taht place for the sake of peace and concentraton.

I am confident that reading will do wonders for you. If possible, you can attend some bhajan sessions if available in your place afetr reading the sacharitra daily or at the end of reading. If you like, please follow this link. Shri Bhardawaja was a great devotee of Baba and he did lot of service for the people in India, especially Andhra Pradesh.

If you are taking up the parayan for some specific purpose, start on a Thursday and follow the chapters to be completed every day so that the book is completed by Wednesday. On the next Thursday, you should read the Sai Arati given at the end and start the parayan afresh. You should maintain as much physical and spiritual purity as possible during the parayan period and give up a food item of your choice till you get a clear indication from Sadguru Sai about the fulfillment of your desire.

 

If you want to read Sri Sai Satcharitra for general spiritual progress, pl. read one chapter daily and when you complete the book, continue reading from beginning again. No other special preparations are needed. You can read when ever you feel ready.

 

One advice to my Sai Sister. Pl. avoid Puja and Satcharitra Parayan during the monthly period (4 days). You may mentally repeat His name.

hello,

i have read sai satcharitra in gujarati which was translated from the marathi version wri tten by hemadpanth. in that book it says that u shud start reading on any thursday ,there is a division of chgeaapters like 8,7,7,6,7,8, etc. finish it within 8 days, keep fast if possible(eat one time), the first day keep a statue or photo of baba and do pooja, arati, rangoli in front of baba, and decorate with coloured cloths like dupatta to make a small mandap above the statue, on the 8th day do bhajans. it is said that if u do it in this way all ur wishes will come true.

when i read i didn't do the pooja and because of some reason, i have a wish to do so in future when baba will guide me to do. however the chapters of the gujarati version book were quiet long , i used to sit for 8 to 10 approx everyday, so i guess practically also cooking food for one time is a better option. so it depends on which type and language of book u r reading, i have got english version which is very thin, gets completed faster obviously.

if u want the exact division of chapters let me know n i will check from my book i mean the guj sai satcharitra n let u know.

You always remember Shri Sainath Bhagvan and take a pratigna how should you are going to read Shri Sai Satcharitra. If you want to read as daily Parayan ---- After Take Bath you do pooja (whatever possible), recite Sri Sai Amritvani (If you know-and whenever time permit you to recite and read) and then do aarathi and offer naivedya to our sainath and then read one chapter Sri Sai Satcharitra.

(If this pooja and other things are not possible also you can read sri sai satcharitra at any time ----one chapter daily --morning or evening)

 

2) You take pragna as Saptaha--7 days - sai satcharitra reading ---only Thursdays ( 7 Thursdays) ---you should do sankapa ( that means what you need from Babaji should be think and surrendered to the Lotus feet of Sai Babaji and take pratigna for 7 days reading Sai satcharitra) ---

Ist day - 1 to 7

2nd day --- 8- to 14

3rd day - 15 to 21

4th day - 22 to 29

5th day - 30 to 37

6th day - 38 to 44

7th day - 45 to till the end (50th and Proloigue and Aarthi)

 

and do complete --Offer pooja and Naivedya to our Sainath Babaji, will bless you to get you wishes completed --when your reading this Sai Satcharitra --(Before completing the Saptaham)

Om sai ram,

 

On the second last page of the book there is a chapter called

Epilogue if u read that chapter u will find many different options on

how this book can be read. I hope i was of help.

Start reading on Thursday thru Wednesday depends on chapters listed

for each day. During the parayana put lights infront of Baba idol.

Once you done parayana feed food to at least 2 people.

Jai Sai Ram,

You can start reading satcharitra on any Thursday at any time after

you take your bath. Read with full faith everything will be alright.

Shri Sai SatCharitra is a graced book. Usually 1 week parayan is done

which normally starts on Thursday and ends on wednesday. Praying to

Baba for his love and grace while reading it is the best i have found.

There is nothing better than His love and grace, which would lead us

to Him.

 

Keeping an ego that i am reading in a particular way proves less

effective, rather surrendering every thing to His love and grace, to

Him while reading proves more effective.
