Dear Brothers and Sisters,

(continued from posting no. 88)

Loving Sai Rams. In posting no.75 we talked about Divine accompishments(Daivi Sampattih), as described by Lord Krishna in the Gita, which a seeker should possess in order to walk successfully the path of Self-Realization. Constant contemplation of the Universal Reality is the only path that will take one to self-realization. In posting no.76, we mentioned about the importance of devotion as the most effective tool for removing the impurities of the mind. Without devotion to the spiritual goal, no spiritual practice can ever be successful. In posting no.77 we saw the importance of Yoga in the path of spiritual- realization. We also mentioned about the importance of Pranayama, Hatayoga etc. etc. in purifying body, mind etc. Without a purified mind, it is not possible to realise the Atma. We elaborated on the term Sadhana in posting no. 78. In the next posting we elaborated on Shadsampatti or the six sreps, viz, sama, dama, titiksha, uparati ,samadhana and Shraddha. The entire posting no. 80 was devoted to explaining the term Sraddha. Posting no.81 dealt with the term Samadhana. Thus the term Sadhana for a true spiritual seeker has been elaborated in posting numbers 78 to 81. It was stressed in posting no.82 that without proper training and self-disciplining negative tendencies in us can not be eliminated. We saw that the actual experience of the Divine Atma can be subjectively experienced when one` mind dissolves itself to become Truth. So long as the mind exists, experience of the Self is not achieveable. What a seeker needs is a spiritual apprehension of the Truth and not a mere intellectual appreciation of it. This much is sufficient by way of summation of what all was said upto posting no.82

It is time we proceed further with fresh postings on this topic.

The divine path leading the pilgrim to the temple of Truth, is not always even. To control the mind and to move steadily on, away from the fields of perceptions and thoughts, and ascend to the tranquil peaks of the Infinite Consciousness, is no pleasant travel. Many a time the Sadhak feels waves of passion, gushes of despair, storms of despondency and cyclones of hopelessness, rocking his courage and shattering his sincerity. To pursue the path in spite of these obstacles, the seeker must be a great hero

(Dheerah), who has a reservoir of inspiration , confidence and infinite strength to draw from and this is called " faith " . To the Vedantic seeker this faith is Sraddha which is that special faculty by which it can, not only listen to, but reflect upon and digest, meditate and assimilate the Truth of the scriptural declarations. In case a seeker lacks Sraddha, it is not worthwhile for him to continue his pilgrimage. " Faith " alone can sustain the seeker on the path. In the actual subjective experience of the Infinite, " faith " alone is the vehicle. At that sacred moment when the seeker , detaching himself from the body, mind and intellect, meditates, " faith " alone, nothing but " faith " , can be our true friend, our guide, our comforter, our inspirer.

A seeker who has realised in himself the secret power of the right type of faith and who has removed from his personality not only the agitations of his mind but also the dullness of his discrimination, becomes fit for deep subjective contemplation and for a deeper philosophical reflection upon lie as such.
