Guest guest
We often hear about 'sacrifice' or 'Tyaga" in spiritual vocabulary. Even in the scriptures, it is written, "Na karmana, Na prajaya, Dhanena, Tyagenaikena, Amrudatva manasu" which means, "Immortality can never be got through work, progeny or wealth. It can be got only through sacrifice. What is real sacrifice? It is sacrifice of 'selfishness', sacrifice of desires, sacrifice of 'possessing tendency'. We all live in this world. We lay ourselves on the earth, we drink the water, we breath the air, we exchange thoughts through words. We embrace each other out of affection. But we can never claim the earth as ours. The earth and other four elements will always remain until final annihilation. But the form or body of every being goes back to the earth or consumed by fire. We are all mere 'water bubbles' as Swami says. How can we claim 'immortality' with this mortal body and monkey mind? Yes, we all have to sacrifice the 'selfishness' with which we possess, with which we enjoy. Rather give up, instead of accumulation. Even we have to relinquish our pet theories. We have to become absolutely empty inside in order to get immortality.Sairam.
