Guest guest
AUM SAI RAM UGADI SHUBAKAAN KSHALU HAPPY UGADI TO BHAGAWAN BABA OUR PARTHI VASA GOVINDA AND TO ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS! Dear All, You are invited with your family and friends to celebrate the Festival of Ugadi at the Sri Sathya Sai Centre, Wooton, Mauritius on Tuesday 20th March 2007. The program starts at 5.15 am with Aumkar, followed by Suprabhatam and the recital of the Bhagawan Shree Sathya Sai Ashtothara Sata Namavali; it will end with Kirtans and bhajans and the distribution of prasad. Ugadi is the Telegu New Year and it begins on the first day of the month of Chaitra (March- April) according to the Chandramana (Full Moon). This is the New Year's Day for the people of Andhra Pradesh and for Telegu people all over the world, including Mauritius. It is a day of great rejoicing and sharing which starts with prayers to Lord Venkatesha (who is also called Lord Govinda) at the break of dawn. Family, friends and neighbours are treated with presents and victuals including the Ugadi Pacchadi. The Ugadi Pacchadi which is a must and which is distributed to all without exception is prasad which is first offered to God and then to all. It is made up of a mixture of six different ground ingredients (sugar, salt, mango, tamarind, chilly and neem leaves) which represent different tastes and the different aspects of life - sugary, salty, sweet, sour, pungent and mild. The taking of the Pacchadi symbolizes our voluntary acceptance of everything that God, Lord Venkatesha, gives to us, mortals, namely happiness, sorrow, success, failure, smiles, tears, sunny days, rainy days, life and death.
