Once, some aspirants approached Buddha and asked him whether he had any awareness of God. Buddha remained silent at that time. Later, he called one of his disciples and told him, "Son, there is no meaning in debating and arguing over the unknown. Don't go into such questions. Divinity is not perceptible. It is beyond human comprehension, not within the reach of the mind or speech. First of all, follow the truth and act according to Dharma. Lead a life of non-violence. This is true spiritual sadhana."

Einmal näherten sich einige Gottsucher Buddha und fragten ihn, ob er irgendein Bewußtsein von Gott hätte. Buddha blieb währenddessen still. Später rief er einen seiner Schüler und sagte ihm: "Sohn, es macht keinen Sinn über das Unbekannte zu debatieren und zu streiten. Verwickel Dich nicht in solche Fragen. Göttlichkeit ist nicht wahrnehmbar. Sie ist jenseits menschlichen Verständnisses, vom Geist noch von der Sprache erreichbar. Zuallererst richte Dich auf die Wahrheit aus und verhalte Dich dem Dharma (dem Gebot Gottes) entsprechend. Führe ein Leben der Gewaltlosigkeit. Dies ist das wahre spirituelle Sadhana (Bemühen)."

Suatu ketika, beberapa aspiran spiritual menghampiri Sang Buddha dan bertanya apakah Buddha sudah mencapai kesadaran ke-Tuhan-an. Sang Buddha berdiam diri beberapa saat. Kemudian ia memanggil salah seorang siswa-Nya dan berkata kepada-nya, "Anak-Ku, tak ada gunanya berdebat ataupun berargumentasi tentang sesuatu yang tidak dikenal. Tidak perlu mendalami pertanyaan seperti itu. Keilahian tak dapat dipahami. Ia berada di luar pengertian manusia, ia tak dapat terjangkau oleh pikiran maupun ucapan. Yang perlu dilakukan terlebih dahulu adalah ikutilah jalan kebenaran dan berperilaku sesuai dengan Dharma. Jalanilah kehidupan ini dengan menjauhi kekerasan. Inilah sadhana spiritual yang sebenarnya."

Una vez, algunos aspirantes se acercaron a Buda, y le preguntaron si tenía alguna conciencia de Dios. Buda permaneció en silencio en aquel momento. Más tarde, llamó a uno de sus discípulos y le dijo, "Hijo, no tiene sentido debatir y argüir sobre lo desconocido. No participes en tales cuestiones. La Divinidad no es perceptible.
