AUM SAI RAM

"Miracles

are a grace and they betray the mechanics of how grace works" Quote Bill

Aitken, the Scottish writer and novelist in his book" Sri Sathya Sai - a life

(published by Penguin in 2004).

Bill Aitken

had his first darshan of Bhagawan Baba in Delhi,

in 1972.He was then working as the Secretary of a big Sai devotee, Prithwi

(lovingly called Rani Ma by the writer) the Maharani of Jind.

When Sri

Baba visited the house of Rani Ma in 1980, she asked Baba to bless the ice-axe

of her Secretary, as he was leaving shortly for an expedition to the Nanda Devi

Sanctuary. Sri Baba took the axe, which had both a pick and a spoon, and

producing vibhuti, rubbed it on the pick but not on the spoon.

"You will

be successful ", Baba said as He handed it back to the secretary.

Later,

during his expedition and, whilst he was climbing the face of a sheer gorge

wall without a rope, Bill Aitken used the pick of the axe to try and find a

hold. As the blade on which Baba had rubbed the sacred ash went into the cliff

face, Aitken lost his foothold. He was left dangling with all his weight on the

pick at 300 feet above the Rishi Ganga.

However, by

sheer miracle, the pick which had been blessed by Bhagawan Baba, held long

enough for the porters to back down and to rescue him!

This is but

one of the many Divine Leelas of Bhagawan Baba. Who gets Grace and why, from Him remains

a total mystery.
