Sairam,May I be permitted to add a few more thoughts? While now a days, when people clap, they produce a sharp soundwhich are jarring for the delicate health of elders present. Moreoverthe percussionists especially the tambourines are beat with all ego and ferocityas in a tribal beat, and not originally envisaged in SAI BHAJANS. One has to come off from EGO and FEROCITY. Secondly, Bhagawan has permitted all to clap, (like driving away the birdsin a tree) - when clapping, the acupressure points in the hands are activitated. The louder the clap, the lesser the benefit and the softer the clap, more will bethe benefit. Everyone has to drive away the evil thoughts, ego and other unwantedqualities in oneself -- NEVER is anyone's clap or tambourine to disturb the neighbour.Bhagawan would never permit this.SAI BHAJANS are known for their melody and softness and not for harsh sounds. The local office bearers have to intervene and ensure softness. Even it may require a firm message preferably from the State President himself.Sir, I have been attending SAI BHAJANS since 1984 and some of the lovable practicesI have seen are :* In a few Centres, two or more office bearers stand near the entrance in white and wearing

our Scarf welcome all the incomers - young or old alike - with a very pleasant "WELCOME, SAIRAM"* Most of the participants arrive a few minutes before commencement and practice SILENT SITTING No chitchatting. They are engrossed with the Bhagawan's photograph.* Immediately after the Mangala Harathi, all leave for their homes taking the beneficial vibrations with them, without any chit-chats at the Centre,* The songs during the bhajan are carefully chosen, incorporating joy, vigour and happiness (Care is taken to avoid any song hinting bordering on sadness,* No compulsion is exercised for forcing any devotee into any service activity - No commands from the

office bearers -YET ALL VOLUNTEER ON THEIR OWN - * NO PRASAD, OTHER THAN THE SACRED VIBOOTHI - * INEXPENSIVE FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS* MILD INCENSE, AVOIDING CHEMICAL AGARBATHIS/DHOOPS, SO AS NOT TO DISTURB THE FRAIL ELDERS.Sairam,At our small Bhajan Centre in Ashok Nagar Chennai, all new comers and all are encouraged to sing, since every flower is an offeringto the Divine and there is beauty in every flower - young or old. The bhava coming from the heart of singers - any singer/every singeris understood and relished by us. We have avoided noisy leather instruments - keeping in mind "sruthir matha, laya: pitha"Generally the Father is found very dominating - but not in our bhajans, the Father and Mother are very soft and every Thursday, when we

meet at 6.15 p.m. is a thrilling communion with Sai Bhagawan. All of us eagerly look forward to Thursdays and in a year, we have only 56 days, i.e. Thursdays only - the other days are not so important. With respects, sadhujag just one or two alone remain, silently folding the mats etc.,

Bhajans

"For the disease of "Bhavaroga" (birth death cycle),

Bhagavan is the medicine; for the disease of desire,

Jnana is the prescription; for the disease of doubt,

the most effective remedy is paropakara (service); for

the major infection of asanthi (anxiety), the course

of treatment is Bhajan"

"Sing aloud the Glory of God and charge the atmosphere

with divine adoration. This is why I Insist on group

singing of the names of the Lord" Baba

"Those who sing Bhajans get what can be called a

"Double Promotion", for they derive Joy and distribute

joy" Baba

Individual Singing Vs Community Singing

If you sing alone in your shrine, the vibrations

return to you as a reaction. But in community singing,

what you have is not a reaction but a wave of

vibrations. They enter into the atmosphere and purify

the polluted air

"I am Anandaswarupa; come and take Ananda from Me"

Baba

Devotional singing (Bhajan) is the process of singing

that originates in the heart, not from the lips or the

tongue. It is the expression of the joyous

thrill that wells up from the heart when the Glory of

God is remembered. It is the spontaneous manifestation

of inner ecstasy. No attention is paid to the blame or

prise that others may give. It does not seek the

admiration or the appreciation of the listeners.

"Wherever My Glory is sung, I install Myself there"

Baba

Do's & Don'ts
