Dear Saibhaktas,

Jai Sairam,

This is a wonderful article that I came across in one of the Saibaba websites. It is about a Pious lady and a Saint named Rajamma who was latter named as Shivamma Thayee by our beloved Sainath in 1917 . Shivamma was born in the small village of Vellakinaru in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu (called Madras Presidency at that time) and was the eldest of four children

From the childhood Rajamma had an inclination towards spirituality. In 1906, her uncle Sri Thangavel Gounder invited Baba to her town and she had an opportunity to meet him and in her words ""At that very time, I was breast feeding my one year old son Mani Raj, seated behind at some distance from my cousin brothers and sisters. Baba cast a moving glance on all of us, and then he asked me alone to come near him by his gestures.Baba told my uncle, 'She is the only girl in the whole lot who will be a highly elevated soul. Baba then slowly chanted the Gayatri Mantra to me and asked me to repeat the same."

Next day morning she totally forgot the Mantra and came for Sai's help. Baba wrote the Mantra in a piece of paper and shivamma who could barely read tried to learn letter by letter. After many years to her utter surprise she lost the piece of paper . The same evening she got a dream where Baba said "You search for the paper on which I wrote the Gayatri Mantra, in the big pot in which you store rice in your house." The following morning she found in the same place where Baba had mentioned. From that day onwards Shivamma accepted Baba as her Guru .

Shivamma started feeling close to Baba and wanted to see him again and again. She said "My entire family—my husband, son, myself and my maidservant had Shirdi Sai Baba's darshan in his old Mosque "Dwarkamai Masjid.' To others, Baba generally blessed them by saying 'Allah achcha karega' (May the Allah do good to you). But to me Baba spoke these two words in Tamil: 'Nalla iru' (Be prosperous). Baba always spoke to me in my mother tongue Tamil and even to this day in his spirit form he comes to me and talks to me in Tamil, which is the only language I know and understand well".

Shivamma used to travel alone to Shirdi to see Sai Baba three to four times a year, despite her husbands growing unwillingness. She used to stay in Shirdi for a few days at a time, having his darshan and witnessing his powers in play.

Dear members it is to be noted that Shivamma was the one who first witnessed miracles and powers of baba.

1) Baba pulled up his sleeve and immersed his right hand into the boiling gruel and stirred it many times.

2) Baba praticing Khanda Yoga, although her name is not mentioned in Shri Sai Satcharitra due to cultural practices of that time. Baba told her that he would teach Khanda Yoga to her but she refused to accept. She also adds that "On some occasions, Baba used to take me to the well outside Shirdi. There he used to do another thrilling yoga. He would take out his intestines from his mouth, wash them with water, and then spread them by the well. He would entrust me the responsibilities of guarding his intestines from eagles, crows and other birds, because I was his Sishya (disciple). After the intestines being dry, Baba swallowed them again."

Fortunate was Shivamma who had an opportunity to be close with Baba for he considered her as his daughter .Today her samadhi is placed in her ashram in Madiwala on the outskirts of Bangalore.

Dear members even though Baba is not in his physical presence he is still watching us and is extending his open arms and is ready to embrace.

Bow To Shree Sai Peace Be To All

Shri Satchidanand Sainath Maharaj Ki Jai.

Thank you for sharing this.

With my little knowledge about HIM, I am just wondering the

authenticity of this message line which says " Sri Thangavel Gounder

invited Baba to her town " I had been reading that HE never

traveled phsyically anywere .......that too I have never read

anywhere about HIM, that Sai Baba traveled physically to a remote

village in Southern India.

Ofcourse I have read about HIS Yogic practices and have no doubt

about his OmniPresence and that he can understand all languages.
