Guest guest
Who is an ideal devotee? From Swami's speeches we can easily conclude that none can wear the template as an ideal devotee. Bagawat Gita contains the qualities, an ideal devotee should possess. If we go through the Gita, we become apprehensive whether Arjuna pass the test of ideal devotee. But Krishna has chosen him to receive the Gita. Krishna found him better than all his brother, even a better receptacle than Dharmaraja, the eldest virtuous one. Swami narrates the reason. Dharmaraja has his own weakness in playing the game of dice. He had no forethought and hence he lost everything he possessed in the game of dice, He lost himself and his brothers too. He could have withdrawn in the earlier stages but his attachment to the game plunged him too deep beyond recovery. But Arjuna questioned Krishna on the futility of war. He was not willing to fight with his own kith and kin. He questioned Krishna about the correctness of the decision just before commencement of war. He was deluded. Though his condition is one of attachment to the body, he was able to assimilate the teachings of Krishna and finally conceaded to fight for the sake of Dharma. He surrendered to Krishna and was ready to do his bidding. Hence, he was considered as a better instrument than Dharmaraja who lacks forethought. Sairam, Saisaran.
