Sai Baba's Help

By Mrs. Durga

Sanathkumar

We live in Coimbatore. My husband is a Doctor and devotion to Sai

Baba comes from three generations. It was 1982. My daughter, Maheswari was in her late pregnancy. Before her delivery I

had decided to make a pilgrimage to Shirdi. Moreover we had some domestic

problems and everyone was upset about it. Then I planned that I should visit

Shirdi and have a heart-to-heart talk with Sai Maharaj.

I requested our maidservant to accompany me. She readily agreed

and with a little difficulty, we could travel in the train, even though we had

no confirmed reservation. When we landed at Kopergaon,

it was just 5.15 a.m. It was still dark and the station wore a

deserted look. When we came out, I was wondering as to whether we would get any

transport at that time to reach Shirdi. Sai Baba heard my prayers. At that time

a mini lorry arrived there. It was an empty lorry generally used to transport

sand. A tall middle-aged gentleman dressed like a Pathan

alighted from the vehicle and enquired " Want to go to Shirdi........ Come.......come.......

get into the lorry. "

I was not used to travel in a lorry. Moreover it was an open

lorry. Since we were only two ladies, I was apprehensive and hesitating to get

in. Just then a group of villagers (Womenfolk were also there) came there and

climbed on to the lorry. With my implicit faith in Sai Baba, I also got into

the lorry. The venerable Pathan-looking gentleman

also got into the driver's cabin and accompanied us upto

Shirdi and then got out in the highway near the Samadhi Mandir.

After settling down in Shanthi Nivas, I went to the Samadhi Mandir

to pay my obeisance. On seeing the vibrant face of Sai Maharaj,

it then occurred to me that the Pathan-looking

gentleman was none other than Sai Baba Himself. Even though this incident occurred

19 years ago, it is still green in my memory. We do not know in what form or

person that Sai Baba comes to help us.
