Guest guest
Navi Mumbai: Show of the controversial Marathi play \'Deva Kari Love\' at Vishnudas Bhave theatre in Navi Mumbai was a fiasco as demonstrations were staged by members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and devout Hindus from other Hindu organizations. In a theater with more than a thousands\' capacity, there were just 15-20 members of audience to watch the play. There has been indecent matter written in the play which denigrates \'Kuldeavata\' of Maharashtra viz. Vithobaraya and Rukmini Devi. When advertisement about the play was seen on the previous day of the show, members of HJS started collecting members of other Hindu organizations and preparing to stage demonstrations. At the earlier shows of the play, complaints had been lodged with the police; but no heed was paid by the producer or director of the play or even the Sensor Board. Moreover, in some of the Marathi daily newspapers like \'Maharashtra Times\' and \'Loksatta\', there was criticism against HJS and \'Sanatan Prabhat\'. It was, therefore, felt that police would take action against the demonstrators. When permission was sought for staging demonstrations, the police gave a warning that in case of any problem in the theatre or outside, agitators will be immediately arrested. Police also provided security to the staff and cast of the play.Devout Hindus started raising slogans against the play just before it started due to which members of audience did not dare to go to the hall. In the end, demonstrators declared that the agitation will be continued. Members of HJS like Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Mumbai district coordinator, Shri. Ramesh Sunil, Navi Mumbai coordinator and Shri. Rajan Bhurake participated in the demonstrations besides, Shri. Santosh Kanade of BJP Yuva Morcha, Shri Atul Kulkarni of Shiv Sena, leaders of VHP, Bajarang Dal, Goraksha Committee, Sree Shri.Yoga Vedanta, Warkari Sect were very active in the demonstrations.
