AUM SAI RAM

March 1995,

a group of Sai devotees from Mauritius

was invited for an impromptu interview by Sri Baba. The group of 16 were in

Prasanti for one week and most of them were at their first Darshan visit.

In the

interview room, Baba talked to all and finally he turned to Sister Bindu.

"How are

you?" he asked

"I am fine

Swami!" was the instant reply

"No!" Baba

said "you are suffering from pain!"

Sister

Bindu turned red in shame; Baba had caught her lying! Matter of fact, she could

hardly sit on the floor; she was excruciating with sciatica pain in the lower

back and in the left leg.

"Yes

Swami!"

"Mutton!" Sri Baba continued "Don't eat mutton! Mutton

gives cancer!"

Sister

Bindu blushed as she became aware of the Omniscient Sai; she had been a devotee

for a long time but she was a non vegetarian and mostly she relished on mutton

dishes- briyani, pilaou, curry, roast… all the

mutton dishes flashed in her mind…

"Yes

Swami!"

"God Bless

you! You will be fine!"

In so

saying, Sri Baba, with a wave of the hand, materialised the sacred ash which he

poured in her palm. Sister Bindu could not believe her good fortune. When she

was asked to join the group, she had just returned from a visit to her daughter

in Canada; she did not have

the means to pay for the air ticket to India. Nonetheless, she was able

within 24 hours to raise the money to pay for the trip Undoubtedly, Baba had

called for her!

Two months

after, all the sciatica pain had miraculously disappeared; she could walk and

stand on her feet holding her back straight; she had given up non-vegan

altogether; she was a completely transformed person; she gave up her work at

the factory and instead took up work at home as a seamstress. Most of all, she

joined the National Sai Council as a devoted and committed seva dal.
