gaya sar'nath <aghorabhairav wrote Meditation is Simple, if you allow it to Happen! Zhazen! How do you define meditation?

Meditation is mind watching. Most of the time we don’t watch our mind and so we

become a

victim of our mind. Our thoughts become actions over which we have no control. When we watch our mind the thought remains a thought and it does not become an action immediately. When we meditate, we have freedom to act on our thoughts. We can distance ourselves from our own mind. The Thoughts drift off and

weaken by day by day regular practice. A time comes in one's life, where equipoise

state in worldy affairs becomes more profound and an unkown inner voice, intuitive power guiding you. Meditation regularly activates and balances the inner chakras and one finds more fulfillingness, authenticity,

totality and fearlessness in one's actions. This leads to a qualitative change, an egoless, unselfish actions are just the by products or fruits of Meditation in the long run......... . You have to sow the seeds before Harvest. Does meditation change a person’s behaviour? Can you describe the process? There is a constant pressure to improve ourselves. We want to achieve something in life. We always compare ourselves with others – socially, financially and spiritually. But we have limitations. This causes conflicts within ourselves. Meditation is accepting both ourselves and the world around us completely. However, good or bad. With all shortcomings and strengths. That acceptance brings

a certain tranquility to our mind. That is meditation. At that point we have no resistance – we have no thoughts of guilt. Won’t acceptance of oneself and the world lead to stagnation? When you accept yourself

you don’t become lazy or lethargic. Lethargic is the other extreme of aggression. We are talking about a balance where you are neither restless nor lazy. When you accept that this is what I am and this is what I can do, you calm down. In that calming down, you grow. When your mind has freed itself from agitation, it gains tremendous knowledge, a new quality of perception and thought. Because it has gained a certain clarity of vision, the mind grows faster. Your personality expands. You see things differently. An agitated mind can only see

agitation. We are taught to condemn it – how bad the world is. Then there are people who blame themselves, their inadequacies – I am hopeless, I cannot do things right, etc. Or I should have done better – emotionally, intellectually, financially or spiritually. There is a pressure for continuous growth, but when does one say that he has enough. It never happens. You should accept what the creator has given – this body and this life and whatever around you. Let me find fulfillment with this first. With this feeling of fulfillment there will be a lot of creativity. Meditation is generally understood as controlling the mind. Is this true? Meditation is not controlling the mind. It is not concentration. It is not being focussed. It is not being undisturbed. Meditation has two definitions – One to watch one’s

mind, and the second, to accept oneself as you are. Is meditation a part of yoga? Yoga is commonly misunderstood as physical exercise. It should be called yoga Asanas. Yoga literally means a ‘path’, a ‘means’ to the end. Like Karma yoga or Bakthi yoga. Through the Asanas you reach a certain status of physical health. By removing imbalance in the body you attain good health. You can sit comfortably for hours. In a way Yoga Asana prepares you for meditation. If you cannot sit comfortably for five minutes how can you meditate? Asanas - Pranayama - Meditation is the order. Asanas for the body, Pranayama for breath and Meditation for the mind. How does meditation help one’s body, mind and soul?

Meditation brings rest to your body. Most diseases are psychosomatic. When a child wants to avoid the exams he can simulate a fever. When you say you are tired you become tired. The reverse is also

true. When you say I am doing fine, everything is all right with me – then the power of your mind will heal you. This is possible only if you have learnt meditation. The breath is the wall between the body and mind. The breath brings harmony between the body and mind. When your mind is wandering the best way to calm it down is through breath control. By breathing in a particular way the mind becomes quiet. In the heat of your anger, if you take a couple of deep breaths, the anger will go away. When you blow the breath out, you

breathe out anger too. This is true with all negative emotions such as lust and greed. Meditation benefits not only yourself, but also those around you. Meditation creates a new society with people who are creative and productive.
