Guest guest
Sai Ram, It is amusing and also paradoxical to note that many now-a-days... do "seva" with an eye on the "meva"---i.e. 'returns' or 'fruits' thereof . Beloved Baba in his discourse last year, thundered to the effect that ...that most do "show service" and not real "social service". In this context .... i would emphasize that ....each of our "seva" must be done witout a trace of ego. Moreover it should be done on a long-term sustainable basis. Now a days ... in many places of spiritual work ... they feed the poor--it is done as the Seva--Service to" Daridra Narayana" --the "poor as Narayana". I see no idea in that! What is the use of 'feeding' for 'one day', when they have to fast all the year round? You can satisfy your conscience that you have done something for the poor, I suppose. But ... If you could find out the cause of poverty and try to remove that, that would be some real SEVA work !! Ram RAM RAM Thank you & God bless. Service is its real sense is done in silence and never done with any thought of reward. This is certainly the case with many people who work as volenteers in the world. Service is not service if it is done with the idea of a reward. Then it becomes payment. Service is kind, giving and is done with real love. ---------- " pravinpatel " <pravinpatel Fri Apr 27, 2007 9:36 pm SERVICES WITHOUT EGO AND SHOW SERV ICES It is sad and also paradoxical to note that now a days Service is always done with some expectations in return. ( " Fruit " of " Action " )either for personal reasons or to draw attention in public (Ego) Services are done " My understanding is " to compete with people at the end of the year SHOW the number. We do not see weather this services done are required. Bottom line .. I emphasize that each Services done MUST be done without a single trace of EGO. Further more any SERVICES done has to planned on a lone term basis. " Narayana Seva " Feeding the poor is also done BUT is it necessary. Some feed the poor once and the other days they are fasting, some are feed in groups on an on going basis, The poor receive fundings from their government who are fed on an on going basis. This I belive are done to sastisfy their conscience : " We have done something for the poor " Swami in his discourse has emphasized over and over again DO SERVICES WITHOUT EGO AND DO SERVICES WHERE ONLY NECESSARY PLUS GO AND SERVE IN YOUR COUNTRY. Instead of servicing the beggers, find the CAUSE and help them on it shall be a greater SERVICE. SAI RAM ---------- " shiva shiva " <bsshiva Sat Apr 28, 2007 3:26 am RE: [saibabanews] True Service--'Seva' sans 'Meva' ! Sai Ram. Something is better than nothing. It should start at something and proceed to everything. Seva - In it's true sense; very few human beings were able to do Seva as described, I can recall the excellent Seva done by mother Theresa. Swamy says `Seva should start at home and then gradually proceed towards the society\. Can Seva be done without any trace of EGO, difficult and practically impossible unless you are a realized soul. It's the 'I' behind the action. If the `I' ego, disappears then you become one with the Lord. The Seva is then done by Narayana and not Nara. So, let everyone start doing some Seva or the other and the Lord inside everyone one will guide and improve the individual to do more and more Seva without expectations.
