Guest guest
Dear Sairam brothers and sisters,Swami says Atma is nothing but consciousness. I was under the impression that Atma is indivisible matter that dwells in heart. Can anyone explain in detail hoe both are related to each other?Sairam. Guest guest
SAI RAM Dear Brothers and Sisters, Swamy often quotes this Mantra from RigVeda in His Discourses:- Ekam Sat Viprah Bahuda Vadanti. It means " Truth is one though the sages call it differently " . Whether you call it as Consciousness, or Awareness or Atma or Supreme Being or Brahman etc. etc. You are referring to the one and only Transcendantal Principle. That Principle is devoid of name, shape, colour etc. etc. It is the Subject and is indescribable ( anirvachaneeya). Atma`s prescence is not confined only to the heart. There is nothing but Atma here. Everything here is Atma only. That very same Atma is also known as Consciouness. Does this meet your query? Guest guest
Dear Friends OHM JAI SRI SAI RAM At the outset, let us not dispute what SWAMI says. If he says Atma is nothing but consciousness, believe it, whether you agree or not. It has to be Consciousness. Now, though not a scholar, whatever little I could understand, let me share. Atma is no matter; no form; no definite proportion. It is like a bank. What you do in your life, gets due credit and debit in this bank. If you do good, you account is credited. If you do bad, your account is debited. More credit you accumulate in this bank, you do not get rebirth. Atma reaches the eternal. If your debits are more, you have to come back, here atma gets back and you start banking again. Now if your actions determines the state of Atma at any given time, more the reason, your consciousness plays a part in deciding which action to be performed. If your consciousness is clear, you perform good deeds. If it is corrupted, you do bad deeds or you don't do your samskaras. Atma is thus related to consciousness. Anything beyond this comprehension and discussing Paramatama, spiritual enlightenment, metaphysical state need not bother the ordinary mortals like us. Before you do a thing, just make sure, your consciousness is clear; the deed is good; if it is for the welfare of others, more the better. I am sure, Atma will liberate once and for all. with Kindest Regards, mani
