Guest guest
Moyia O'Brien Community service founder Fondly known as " The Pink Twins, " Moyia O'Brien and her sister, Dorothy, started Sunshine Welfare and Remedial Association more than thirty years ago to provide a place that enabled and empowered people with a disability to develop and enhance their strengths, skills, and self confidence. SWARA offers an opportunity for people with a disability to have a place to call their own. Dorothy has gone now, but Moyia, 82, soldiers on, working at SWARA three days a week. She has always been regarded as an inspiration to all who come across her. While Dorothy saw pink as a warm colour with a spiritual quality, Moyia sees it as the colour of love. Her love for her clients is reflected in the love they return to her. She must feel so proud of the new 103-unit property in Brisbane specifically designed for single person households, named in honour of the Pink Twins. http://www.australianoftheyear.gov.au/pages/page249.asp
